Hi everyone,

I'm new to this posting threads and what not. I just shot in my
first 3D archery shoot this morning. But, I'm not sure if my score was
all that great. I scored a 231. Being that it was my first time shooting
at 3D targets, I don't think it was too bad, other than when I missed
2 of the 30 targets, 1 broken arrow and 1 lost field tip. Could any of
yas might be able to tell me what an average score is? I'd appreciate
the help. Thanks.

I think that was a great score as long as you had fun. Don't think so much about the score. Just have fun and then set goals for your self. Just keep working on your form and yardage judgement and keep shooting and everything will come together. Again great job on your first shoot.

Howdy!! Sounds like fun!! We havent had any out door 3d shoots in my area yet... im ready for some outdoor shooting though, our first outdoor 3d is the 19th.... I have been doing indoor 3d for the last 3 or so months though, i just cant get enough, your score will depend on how many targets you shoot and how they score. Most common scoring is 10,8,5,3. well around here anyways, if that was your first shoot and you only missed 2 targets, you did really well i think. and the key is having fun, I like to get out and do some walking and shooting, take care and happy shooting!!!!

Hey, thats some good shooting for your first time. As long as you have fun doing it. The score doesn't mean that much. But just for your knowledge a perfect score ( if 12's are counted is 360) (is 11's are counted is 330). That is shooting 30 tgts. I dont know anyone that has done those scores before. Just have fun and keep shooting.

Thanks for the replys everyone. The scoring was 30 targets, with a 10 for a heart shot, 8 for a kill shot and 5 for a wound shot. It's going to be a once a week shoot, lasting for 3 months. And yes, I'm having the time of my life when I am shooting. I finally got my bow dialed in. Now I'm nailing a 4 inch pattern at 40 yards. I'm shooting a Mathews XL.

Like everyone here says, have fun. It's the most important thing. Keep shooting them and you will get better at it. It doesn't come over night but you will get better at judging yardage and improve.:D

I shot 221 the first time I shot a 3D a LONG time ago.:p That was from the back stakes. It does not really matter what you have the first few times that you do it. After that you can make your own decision on whether you just want to go and have a blast with the guys or get a little more serious about it. Good shooting.
