Has anybody else been getting tons of spam the last few months?
I just installed a newer version of MacAfee that has site adviser in it
And when I go to 3Dshoots site its red flag so I clicked on it to see what
It had to say about this and its said that 3Dshoots posted my e-mail on the net
To several other sites and to groups has any body else had this problem? Now I’m getting spam from lol I should say scams for Africa lotteries and UK. Lotteries and yahoo
And all sorts of crap looks like I need to change my e-mail addy now to get it to stop

I would love to see screen shots of this. I want these so I can email Macafee and ask them what is going on.

The only way your email is listed on 3dshoots.com is if you run a club and have it listed for people to contact you under Club Informaton. Your email address is not available from the forum.

it's MacAffe, I have installed one of the best anti-V, and spam tools on the market. How do I know it is the best out there. Because it is the one that most of the big computer nerds and tecs I know are switching to. It works great, and does not slow down your computer like MacAffe and nortons does.
So not pushing it but if it is good enough for those who live on there computers and have 3000 to 6000 in there systems. It is good enough for me.
Check it out.

I do get spam from yahoo alot but I doubt it is from just this site.

I do know we are not allowed to run Norton programs anymore on our government computers. Seems Symnatec and other companies are considered more secure and better quality now days. :noidea:

Those are from all the porn sites you go to! :tape:  I don't think this forum is to blame. Once I gave my info to north american hunting club my email went in the trash. I have so many email addresses blocked it's not even funny!

There are 4 MAIN computer security issues out there right now...

Spyware / AdAware
Virus (Virii)
Norton's Products
McAfee Products!

If you have any or all of the above your system is running like garbage! get rid of them!!! I have received no increase in spam at all since I've been using my current email addy (also on the one I signed up on here with).

McAfee cannot possibly know what information 3dshoots is giving out to other companies even if he was. It looks like it is based off a single complaint that someone made that McAfee assumed is true. Trust me, get rid of that horrible software and your life will be better :biggrin1:

In my personal opinion McAfee is a joke. I think they cause more computer problems than they fix. The guy that works on my personal computer and the guy that works on our company computers both say stay away from McAfee. When I took it off my personal computer it speeded it up considerably. I now use some free thing called AVG or AGV something like that. Seems to be working fine.

You need some type of anti/virus protection now adays. The only real problem with most of them is that their hard on the drivers....and they track your sites you go to.Would be affraid to down load one that was free from some site.Get the wrong Trogan....and it'll shut your computer down.

It's called AVG and it's free....:peace: I have been using it for years and have not had any problems.... I work on PC's for a living and I don't pay for antivirus or spyware scanners there are to many good free ones out there...

Mcafee's website works about as well as their software. They have a system for website owners to be able to login and make comments on this "site advisor" page. Guess what, it doesn't work.:frusty:

I am a member of a bunch of other forum sites, one in perticular is a Rabbit forum.......a bunch of the members there recently started reicieving spam mail from someone claiming to be interested in rabbits and wanted them to sell them rabbits....and wanted the victims bank account numbers so they could wire the money to there accounts......and ship the rabbits......they figgured out that the person/persons got the e-mail address's by checking the user profiles for your e-mail.........

This version of the Vbulletin/UBB software is very secure. The only way that the email addresses could be garnered would be if someone were to invade the hosting server and snag the database. Had that happened, EVERYBODY would have gotten inundated with spam. This doesn't appear to have happened.

This is not to say that members cannot bombard 10 or 20 members at once with emails from the site. However, most savvy Admins have that possibility covered.

It is very rare that problems arise with mail from the better UBB boards (Ikonboard, IPB, Vb, PHPbb, etc). The biggest threat is when the latest board upgrades are not installed in a timely manner and somebody installs code to try and execute a script as you enter the forum. As long as you have a good anti-virus program and good anti-spyware, you're covered. I suggest AVG Free, AdAware SE/2007 and Spyware Blaster. All can be had from Majorgeeks and are free.
