The next time you hear a politician use the word "billion" in a casual manner, think about

whether you want the "politicians" spending YOUR tax money. A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure into some perspective in one of its releases.

A. A billion seconds ago it was 1959.

B. A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.

C. A billion hours ago our ancestors were

living in the Stone Age.

D. A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.

E. A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and

20 minutes, at the rate our government is spending it.

While this thought is still fresh in our brain, let's take a look at New Orleans It's amazing what you can learn with some simple division . .

Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu (D), is presently asking the Congress for $250 BILLION to rebuild New Orleans. Interesting number, what does it mean?

A. Well, if you are one of 484,674 residents of

New Orleans (every man, woman, child), you

each get $516,528.

B. Or, if you have one of the 188,251 homes in

New Orleans , your home gets $1,329,787.

C. Or, if you are a family of four, your family

gets $2,066,012.

Washington, D.C .. HELLO!!! ... Are all your calculators broken??

STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY?
Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago,
and our nation was the most prosperous in the world.
We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

What happened? Can you spell 'politicians!'

And I still have to “press 1" for English.

Oh, and before anyone starts busting my chops I want to add something.

I am in NO WAY what so ever against sending aid to areas that need it, especially within our own nation, within reason. I realize that not everyone had the ability to get insurance and this did catch some off guard. This, however, just seems like an astrimonical amount of money to ASSIST, not finance, the rebuild project.

We live in a great nation with citizens that are willing to help, but come on.

well do not take this wrong. But if you live in a bowl you are going to get wet some day. I am sure the insurance rates were high. Maybe that is why most did not have it. But read some of the news on the net about the people how were trying to buy high dollars cars with there red cross debit cards. I can also add the Georgia's crime rate went up when they sent them here. Murder, rap, an home invasions also.
And as for taxes and insurance? I think it is sad that before I get my pay check there is over 350 dollars a week taken out. That is more then some people gross in a week. What happened to the idea that this country was built on. No unfair taxes, like taxing money 2 or 3 times.
OK we work for a paycheck, They tax it, you buy gas that is already taxed with money that they already taxed, That goes in your car that you paid tax on when you got it, that you pay tax on once a year. to go get food that the growers paid tax on when they sell it at market, By the way they paid tax on the seed to plant in the ground that they pay tax on once a year.
I can go on like this for hours and hours. :mad2: :smokin:

:smokin: I use to work with a guy. He said his wife left him and he hit rock bottom. So he loaded what he still had and drove across country to MT. Then he stopped at a church. Packed up what he need tools, close and stuff. Gave the rest to the church. He turned to the woods and went off to live on his own off the land. He said he came back 5 years later with is he clear. Then it took him about a year to work his way back to Ga. Then 10 years he was ready to go back to the woods. He quit working where I use to and he said he was headed back.
