View Full Version : Help with new archer?
MNMike 04-15-2008, 09:10 AM I got a call today and it seems that there is a female senator from NY that wants me to help her get into shooting archery. I guess she has a newfound interest in bowhunting and the shooting sports. As a youngin, her grandpappy taught her how to shoot out behind the cottage so she is very educated on firearms already. Her husband is retired and has lots of time to hunt with her also. What types of things should I cover with them as new to the hunting world?
:noidea:

Depending on who it is you could start her out by making her hold the target.

We all started somewhere.

teach her how to make sure to look down the barrel to see if the gun is loaded.....and also teach her that arrows are best shot underspined.....
MNMike 04-15-2008, 09:31 AM I offered to make a shirt with a single spot target printed on it. She could wear it when Bill is practicing - but what would he know about nailing a lady.......

LOL< nice.
pred8er 04-15-2008, 03:29 PM Teach her to always wear the brown fur jacket (you know, the one with the branches attached to the hood) when she goes hunting. It never fails to bring in the sort we are looking for.:D
ohbowhntr 04-15-2008, 06:09 PM I have some arrows with busted nocks that I could probably repair well enough to be good for one shot.....
brokenarrow 04-15-2008, 07:28 PM no comment...:tape:
Dooby 04-15-2008, 07:47 PM Political topics should earn an immediate :ban:
At the end of the day, they are all politicians and any experienced US politician is brilliant compared to the people they have fighting it out here.
When I first moved to Australia I saw the guy who is now Prime Minister say this:
Large women said: "Mr. Rudd, I don't believe you see my point."
Rudd said: "I don't believe anyone in this room has trouble seeing YOU."
It's funny....but consider that this guy has nuclear subs and jets at his disposal. :tape:

You can say that again. :spit:

As for no political discussions; I grant you this probably is in the wrong forum, but other than that.....
MNMike 04-16-2008, 10:45 AM You are right, this is not a hunting topic. It was a joke that should be on another site. If it took up space that would have been used by the rush of other - hunting related - threads, I am sorry.
We should stick the point:
I hunt
I shoot a bow
Everyone should shoot the bow that fits them
I don't like high fences, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion
There is no one good arrow - they are all quality products
Anti's are out there. Be carefull of what you say about this sport
Vanilla is just fine with me
Fun......... For God's sake this is a bowhunting site.... how dare you consider fun.
