View Full Version : Logo Opinions
jcmorgan31 04-23-2008, 09:29 AM Ed contacted me about designing a logo for the crossbows he is going to be selling in the US. This is what I have come up with and I personally think it fits well with the image the company's website portrays. You really need to hit the website before commenting.

J.A.G. 04-23-2008, 10:24 AM I like it a lot!!! Good job!!
jcmorgan31 04-23-2008, 10:24 AM I remember now Slip. It was a thread where I asked for opinions on a window decal and got this from you...
How can you stop taxidermy if you want to be considered a taxidermist? I ain't taking my trophy to some guy who hadn't mounted a buck in 3 years. No offense, just saying. I'm sure you do fine work but when you turn business away, and want it later, it might not be there.
Lets talk about that home page of yours, you should change it to look a little more alive like your window decal. What you need is an official logo. Less text on your webpages and more pictures and color.

clemenlp 04-23-2008, 10:32 AM Looks great, and matches their style exactly.
Great Job.
dbdcougar 04-23-2008, 10:56 AM :thumb: That is a very fine effort.

LOL... you never know until the attorney sends you a letter do you????
I actually had to pay for that font, so I think I'm covered.... :thumb:
the artwork is too big or the lettering is too small. plus the name needs to be more centralized not stuck at the bottom. plus is crossbows are metallic colored and you have a metallic colored logo. not gonna show up real well.
you asked......:noidea:

These are for decals and advertisemet. They won't be on the bows. At least I doubt the guy is gonna stick a vinyl decal on a polished aluminum $10000 cross bow....:biggrin1:

fair enough....:biggrin1: but I stand by my statement that the name should be centered with the artsy stuff above and below it.

what would the trajectory be at a mile?
Also how much would you have to compensate in a 15 mph crosswind from a 25 ft. treestand?

I'm not sure how they regulate crossbows at the IBO and I even work the tents at Bedford. Maybe I should read up so I don't show up with my $12000 crossbow and have to go home....

On their website I think 360 or 380 was tops for speed. That is very fast but 500 it is not.:p

Keepers:
The style and lines of the bow are definite keepers. I wouldn't change a line of it. Choice of text works. Readability is a bit tough...especially at distance, but it follows the site's lead.
Rethinkers:
The arc of text looks good, though I'd probaby try it a bit smaller...with less of an arc so it's "supported" by the bow limbs (not touching...but via whitespace).
Color: I'm not so sure on the red. The site has a cool and almost gothic feel using the parchment and cool tones of metal to set the feel for the site. The red on the logo...especially the chosen tone...seems to fight that harmony. Maybe experiment with some blues or cooler colors? If you're still after the warm tones to contrast...maybe more brownish/orangy tones rather than the red might blend?
Overall, excellent effort. Very clean design that complements the site.
