BowhuntnHoosier 04-29-2008, 08:32 PM My grocery getter is a Hyundai Elantra Wagon and I have had nothing but great luck with it. The warranty is excellent. Not that I have used it for much. My aunt bought a Santa Fe last fall and seems to like it alot also. My brother has an Entourage and likes it too. I'm waiting on a Hyundai truck.

I don't have the tucson, but I have the Kia Sportage (which is the same car over here...just slightly different body shape and interior fitout). The kia looks a bit better imho.
Pros
Looks decent
Fair amount of power
Cheap
4X4 (stop laughing)
Long service intervals
Cons
Thin panels and micro thin delicate paint
Sucks more gas than comparably powered Nissan X-Trail
Interior wears fast
4X4 more for show than anything
Questionable longevity (had this one 2 years and seems more little stuff goes wrong the older it gets...and we're EASY on cars)
If you can find a Mazda, Nissan or Toyota ...even if it costs a bit more...I'd seriously consider it first. We had a Nissan X-Trail and loved it. Build quality was second to none...and it felt like it the whole time we had it. We just wouldn't buy what we've got now, again.

Dont get me wrong, some of there saws are great......
thier other products and thier company policy's really SUCK......
that company can go to :censored: ........ have you ever had to call them for anything?? Try getting a human on the phone......
bfisher 04-30-2008, 06:35 PM The wife wanted a Santa Fe so we test drove one two years ago. Watch out for the 2.7L V6. It'll get worked to death pulling this SUV around. Has to do too much down shifting.
Then we tried the 3.5L V6. It could smoke the tires almost anytime. Almost scary.
I believe the newer versions have a 3.3L which might be a nice touch.
All in all they are a nice vehicle, but I just can't see giving the dealer my 2000 Silverado and $15,000 for something that only gets less than 2 mpg more. Besides, my truck only has 107,000 miles, is paid for, and I only put about 7000 miles a years on it anymore.
Staring 2004 Hyundai really stepped up the quality. The wife and I own a Sonata and it's been a darned decent car. Rides a lot bigger than it is. The warranty is great, if you ever have need of it. We haven't.

Dooby 05-01-2008, 07:31 AM If a tree fell in the woods, and someone was a logger doing the cutting, and their chainsaw broke....would Bunnyman fix it?
Anyway, instead of pondering the sound of one hand smacking...I DO have a question:
What are examples of bonified "industrial" chainsaw uses? I would have thought clearing forests would be fairly commercial equivalent.
Oh oh...and does anyone know what kind of chainsaw they used in the Texas chainsaw massacre? (actual massacre...original movie, and modern remake)?:dizzy:
I think I might have had one too many pain killers....screen is melting. :)

trussoni 05-01-2008, 09:32 AM lots of people cut lots of wood around here. Stihl is the biggest seller in this area. not sure if that makes it the best. im not up enough on chain saw facts and figures to prove anything one way or another. i do know some of them that come into my buddies small engine shop are pretty old. seems like no matter the brand though those who own whatever brand swear by them i have a small Stihl here but i paid $20 for it a garage sale it tells ya what kind of shape its in.
J.A.G. 05-02-2008, 03:58 PM :focus: I looked at both of those vehicles Bunnyman.. problem is the gas mileage.. and for the overall quality, i keep bouncing back to the Honda CRV..
Still havent bought anything, but am getting closer.. i have really decided that higher MPG is the major factor right now... so may end up with a Honda Fit... ahead, laugh....
and as far as Chainsaws... I've been around them all my life, I grew up in lumberjack country, Northern NH, and Stihl is the way to go.

We have an Accord now, and thats been a GREAT CAR.....I am thinking the CRV might be the way to go.....one of the issues is the cargo room and getting the rabbit carry cages in the back and enough room for us all to fit....

Trailer hitch and build/buy a cheap little trailer to tow.
Since there aren't really trucks over here (well...sorta but that's a whole other thread) most people have a ball hitch put on anything they buy....even sports cars! You can buy/rent little trailers for fairly cheap all over the place. They are only about 6 feet square, but they suit their purpose.
We rent one to take yard waste to the dump on clean up days (i.e. limbs from our hedge and stuff that doesn't chip easily). A little utility trailer comes in handy...and opens up your options for a people mover.
Also...those little trailers are GREAT in the woods. Small enough to move around the camp by hand...and some people here even pitch a tent over them...throw a mat in the back....and sleep in it once they get all of their gear pulled out and put under a tarp.
