I would hunt them in the spring but IL has no Archery season on em. Do you carry the Guillotine's (2 shoot thier head right off) yet? I would like to try some of them because broadheads put to bi a hole in them.

What do you mean no archery season? You can hunting them with your bow in the spring time. You can use gun or bow.

After three days I finally bagged a nice tom. Took the bow out the first two days. Saw over 30 birds each day but they kept hanging up at forty to fifty yards. Finally had two seperate birds come in under twenty yards. The first one i missed, my fault i rushed the shot. Missed the second one at fifteen. Shot right over his head and I was aiming at body. Shot felt good but i couldn't figure out why i missed so bad. Half hour later i noticed three little cuts in my blind one inch from my the window where i shot through the blind and hit the zipper. How frustrating. Third day i took the flame thrower. Got a tom with a 10 inch beard and 1 1/4 inch spurs at 6:10 in the morning. You can not beat a good day of turkey hunting. I love it.

Anyone else having luck?

I killed a 22lb 10 1/2 inch beard and 1 1/4 inch spurred gobbler last Sat. I used a Diamond Victory DC with 100gr Sattelite 3 blade broadheads on Radial X weave arrows. 25 yards quartering away. My bow shoots an arrow at 290fps using a 400 grain arrow. Looking foward to this next Sat to try for a repeat.

Dad and I set up our blind ysterday.
This is from the woods side, 10 yards away. Batteries went dead so I could not get pick from inside.

http://box-family.com/images/hunting/eastman_from_woods.jpg

This morning I set up at 7am.
GOBBLE GOBBLE...
I called once.. closer GOBBLE GOBBLE.

Called twice GOBBLE GOBBLE in the field off to my right, closed windows.. that's ok.
I have my decoy set up well.

3 Toms and 2 jakes come into view.
I take aim at 17yds and shoot low.
ARRGGHHH, I had forgot in the excitement to kneel. I was still sitting in my arm chair. My form was all off.

The turkeys shuffle a little bit but the Diablo was so quiet and the blind effective enough that I take another arrow out of my quiver and take aim a second time.

POOF/THUD.
The turkey explodes into the aim and comes down on the nock of the arrow. The arrow did not get pass through.

The turkeys shuffle off and he pops out 15-20 yards fluttering and comes to rest outside my range (no rangefinder and only 1 SGH head left). I wait 10 minutes and he Pops again out another 10 yards. This time though he comes down tail feathers up and seems to do a last gasp and deflates. I call everyone saying I am going to tag out and I call the land owner to bring down his camera.

Sheldon is on his way down and the bird has not stirred for another 10 minutes, so I step out of the blind and stretch. After about 5 minutes he pops again and this time reaches the wood line and flutters and deflates again. About 2 minutes later Sheldon shows up and we walk over to where the turkey is supposed to be.

NOTHING!!!!!

We searched for an hour and half in the woods out to about 200 yards deep and 200 yards wide. Nothing.

Here are some pics of the broadhead and turkey feather.
There were more chest feathers, but this was one from where he laid down the first time.

'thought' I hit him good, but after much discussion with my dad and a few others that have bowhunted turkeys around here, this is what they think.

They think that the turkey was ever so slightly turned and I hit it just to the side of the breast plate, since the head did not just bust it. Thinking this resulted in a punch wound to once side and the arms twisted and did not pass the breastplate.

I did not get pass through and when the turkey came down from his first jump the arrows stuck nock first in the ground and came out of him. There was no meat and very little blood on the arrowhead itself and none on the shaft.

We walked in pairs slightly over arms apart 400 yards left, 400 yards right, and 200 (or so) yards deep in the woods. I spent 1.5 hours with my neighbor, my Dad walked it for 2 hours before I got home, and together we walked it for another hour and a half.
We went over it VERY VERY thoroughly.

This is the first game I have ever lost that I can remember. I have shot hundreds of ducks, a moose, a few rabbits, deer, and turkeys.... I am a little discouraged.

Hopefully tomorrow morning he'll return with the tom and jakes and I'll be aiming for the one with a limp.

Well, my neighbor, my dad and I searched high and low for the turkey.
We went 400 yards in 3 directions away from the field.
Nothing. Well, not nothing!

I consider what I did find a once in a lifetime event.
A newborn fawn.

Since it seems to be an issue on AT, I'll clarify here before it comes up.

We did not touch it.
And it did not even get to breathing hard.
We moved very slow, and did not speak.
The hand is to show size, not to try and show how close we could get.
I don't think it was traumitized to any great extent.

I respect animals too much to go around handling them.
There was no need for us to touch it with our hands, to hold it, stroke it, or anything else. Just wanted to capture a special moment, and to show how small and young it really was.

I think my 3yo daughter was more distraught seeing a picture of her grandfathers hand and realizing he was missing part of a finger than the deer was having us move around it.

Sweet pictures, let us know if you get the turkey!!!! I was out mushroom hunting last year when i stepped over a log and got the CRAP scared out of me. I had almost put my foot down on the other side of the log and i caught movement out of the corner of my eye!!! LOOKED down and there was a fawn just to the left and under my foot!!!! I quick fell to the side becuase i didn't want to step on the one!! Here i am rolling around on the ground heart pounding laying next to the fawns not for sure knowing what they wereuntil i got a second look!!! first thought was coyote of fox sleeping!!!!
Never touched them and saw them the next day with mom!!!!!! AWESOME!! those little critters sure are small!!!
