I'm not sure I like the idea of a slit shaft for vanes to be installed.
What are your thought?

Nah, I'll let someone else be the "beta" tester for that.

Cool idea for darts...I don't like the split shaft either

I agree. It seems like a weird thing to do for fletching.

I've always been told that if your shaft splits at the end like that the arrow is not safe to shoot unless that part of it is removed.

No, I'm not impressed with the idea of having manufactured slits.

Especially since at the time that string impacts those slits they are next to my face and passing by my hand and arm.

No thank you.

I'll put a second on the table for this one! Split shafts are supposed to be thrown away, not have fletchings installed and shot again!

If it was something designed ONLY for aluminum shafts...then MAYBE, but not for carbon shafts. You couldn't pay me to shoot them regularly.

Too much reliance on the retention collar at the back of the shaft...that's not even glued on. Furthermore, carbon fibers don't like to be cut AND retain their strength in dynamic loading conditions.

That said, if they were properly engineered...then they MAY be just as strong as a regular arrow. If the "cut" part is reinforced internally...and there is some interwoven slot reinforcement at the end of the slot....it'd probably be safe (with the retention collar bonded to the shaft).

The idea works great for darts....but you're not putting maximum load on the rear of a dart. If that sucker gives way during a shot you'll have a pretty little dart-like arrow sticking out of your hand/arm (if you're lucky enough for it to miss anything vital).

I'll pass, thanks.
