View Full Version : Need a new backpack
Need a new backpack, for years I’ve used a Cat Quiver with built in pack, but now that I’m doing less Spot & Stalk and more sitting in a blind I’ve decided to try another approach. I only need a daypack for snack food and water plus the usual safety items. What do y’all suggest?

I'm leaning towards the Badlands Diablo it looks like just the thing for me.
48down 09-29-2008, 10:26 AM I kinda did the same thing a couple of years ago, but ended up attaching a cat quiver mini to the side of the new pack. Still nice to not have a quiver on the bow.

I have tried alot of different back packs, I currently have the 2200 from badlands, but Blacks Creek Guide Gear came out a new day back called the bone collector 1.5 and it is a stud pack for a day pack.

rodney482 09-29-2008, 06:03 PM Havi ,,,I suggest the camelbak commander, this is a well made pack that has served me on several trips to the treestand, 2 elk trips and a caribou trip. The hydration system is the best hands down, the zippers are high quality and there is plenty of nice pockets. You can pick one up for less than $100.
You can even pack your bow in it.
Trust me on this one.....:peace:

Thats a pretty large pack for just a day timer. Have you looked at the Breact or Super Day as well?
Personally I dont get hung up on camo per se so it's Arc'Teryx if I can afford it, Jack Wolfskins with the ACS system most likely, or the Badlands stuff as they evolved from hardcore climbing equip. The warranty on all is pretty much the same so when you tire of em your granddaughter can use it for a school pack;)
The camelback stuff is nice, but I've found the wear factor not up to snuff and dealers up here usually tell me to buy new rather than repair it.

Have you had one in your hands, yet? I haven't been able to find any brand with a zipper much quieter than my Walmart special. Please post your evaluation when you get one.
'SIN'ERGY 09-30-2008, 02:33 PM I got a Scentblocker day pack off of ebay. Won it for $65.00. It's a 100.00 bag.
Search scentblocker back pack, he has a bunch more on there.
wolf942 09-30-2008, 03:28 PM Badlands makes the best packs hands down. They will repair your pack no matter where you got it .If they made it they fix it.The zippers and buckles are good quality.Mine have hung from treestands in rain, snow and been carried for miles. They dont pck up sweat odors and are pretty water proof. My hunting partner buys cheap packs and by now he could of bought two Badlands for the price of the ones he throws out.Wolf

Yer right I got em bass ackwards:dizzy:
Although I have to admit that the Monster lumbar pack really caught my eye. It's got enough capacity, but it might be a trifle hard to hang a bow or rifle off of it. Like to hear from some users.

'SIN'ERGY 10-02-2008, 06:00 AM There is a thread on AT from a guy who had a badlands pack fall apart on him after a week in the wilderness elk hunting. He said they did beat the crap out of their gear but for that much money you should probably go with Eberlestock.
SandSquid 10-02-2008, 06:55 AM Badlands makes the best packs hands down.
good stuff, but have you ever used anything from Bug Out Gear or Spec Ops?
I have a a few bags that have survived three tours to The Sand Box
google: "Bugout Long Range Bag" and "Bugout 3 Day Pass Pack"
and my favorite small bag "Spec-Ops T.H.E Pack"..

No, I didn't get the Diablo, I was given an Ultra Day pack by a good friend who unfortunately cannot use it for some time. I pray for his recovery and that one day he and I can share a hunt together.
I will be happy to review it for y'all as soon as I can.

The only thing better than a new pack is one with a story. Somehow I think knowing the pack is out there will keep him connected while recovering. Best return it with at least one blood stain to keep the story ongoing;)
Cornfed 10-03-2008, 09:34 AM Badlands seem to be the ELITE when it comes to top shelf packs. If you can afford the little extra cash they run, BUY ONE!
