3D
Sorry to say, but I have never shot a round of 3D. Why? Seems 3D is basically only shot in my area on Sundays and my Sundays are already taken with church and family visits in the afternoon. I know I would love the game, but the opportunity to participate just hasn't materialized yet.
Indoor 3 Spot & 5 Spot
When I got my first bow, it was in Jan., so about the only game in town was indoor. I really enjoyed it, but was somewhat disappointed in the number of arrows. It usually took me longer to get to the indoor range than it did to shoot 30 arrows. Never shot with a group that used the 5 spot target, but I think I'd like that game better, besides the X is bigger. :biggrin1: I'm sure I'll go back inside once it gets too cold for outside OR there's not enough daylight.
American 600
A great game for those afternoons when there's not enough daylight left to shoot 14 Field targets. For those not familiar this is shot as follows: 20 arrows at 60 yards, 20 at 50, & 20 at 40. These are shot in 5 arrow ends using the 122 cm FITA target (like they used in the Olympics). Some places I've shot start at 40 and work back to 60, while others start at 60 and work down to 40. This is an excellent game to "hone" your form.
FITA
Would love to do more of this. Had the opportunity only once to shoot "numerous" arrows from 70 meters. My mind was so wrapped up in "just hitting the target" that I don't even remember how many ends nor arrows per end we shot.
Field
Now this is where my "love lies". As said earlier, I started indoors and actually thought the archery world revolved around the 3 spot target. One day the guys I was shooting with invited me out to the Field course. All they said was that "you'll need marks out to 80 yards in 5 yard increments starting at 15 and by the way there's one target you shoot at 20 FEET" :humble: Needless to say, it takes a little more than a "few minutes" to get all those marks. I remember well 2 of my early trips to the Field course 1) the day I first went home with the same number of arrows as I started with & 2) the day I managed to score all arrows. :p Since first starting Field back in April, I've had the opportunity to shoot 5 different ranges - 4 in NC and 1 in MD. I simply love the thrill of walking a course for the first time with no idea what the next target might be. It might be close or you might need your binos. It might be up hill, down hill, on an angle or any of many other factors that will keep you on your toes.
So what your thoughts on the games mentioned, or better yet, what other games are out there that I have not been exposed to?
