View Full Version : 2009 PSE Dream Season GX
Chris 10-01-2008, 10:33 AM I thought the members here might find this interesting. Found on another forum.
Here are some pics of the 2009 PSE Dream Season GX;
Specs;
ATA 33"
Brace Height 7"
80% Let off
Factory Installed Red and White Americas Best Strings
String Suppressor
IBO (60 lbs, 30" draw, 300grain arrow) 348.4 FPS
The bow simply shoots awesome, fast quite, shock free. In short X Force speed with 7 inch brace and 80% cams, what more can I say!!!
Also shot the Bow Madness bows!!! WOW single cam, silky smooth and smoking fast (three models to choose from). The Brute got a face lift as well, a grip similar to the BEST, Mossy Oak Tree Stand Camo and a String Suppressor. In short the entire 2009 line-up ROCKS!
NY911 10-01-2008, 10:42 AM I like the looks, but man....those cams look less than smooth to draw...
Almost like horsehoes....
beenfarr 10-01-2008, 03:58 PM Hmmm...What's the advantage to being half binary? I've never seen a dual cam with one split yoke cable. Is that more common than I think?
Ben
nice looking bow. the MO Treestand looks good. I dont want any part of 348 from a 7 inch brace height, though. that's a lot of energy to crank through those mule shoe cams..........
CutTheLoop 10-01-2008, 04:27 PM 348?!
DQ  :D

Yep thats my thoughts too.:frusty:
gizim_1132 10-01-2008, 07:49 PM there goes 1000 bucks on just the bare bow but it's well worth it!!!!!!!
Lorenz1 10-02-2008, 05:39 PM Is anything coming out for short draw (24 in), 40-50# DW that weighs around 3 lbs?? My wife deserves a new bow. She filled 2 tags so far so I am down to her 2 to 1.

Take a look at the chaos for your wife i thik she will like that one. As for the harsh draw cycle the new 80% cams are supposed to be more efficent and and have a less harsh draw cycle. i guess we will see in a couple weeks.
ptcruz421 10-06-2008, 10:39 PM I really want to try shooting this bow but I just noticed something odd.
Look at the picture at full draw. Notice how different the cam rotation is between the top and bottom cams. Is this normal, this can't be normal could it?

It's not that much off prolly just the way the angle of the camera is!!!!
but more than likely just by design!
Daniel Boone 10-07-2008, 06:39 AM Bet in the hands of this youngman that bow would hit the mark.
He shot lights out this day with this bow. I need to get Eric Griggs and Nathan Brooks over here.

1jetfan 10-17-2008, 12:13 PM still shopping the 2009s will probably get the GX in black on black !!!
RxBowhunterKS 10-17-2008, 02:02 PM Hey Chris,
You described the draw as smooth. Are there any bumps or humps that are noticeable or annoying?
In the video that Daniel posted you'll notice the shooter draws real smooth until almost reaching full draw when he hits the "hump". I know it's not the same bow and cam though.
a1shooter 03-27-2009, 12:09 AM If anyone has any videos like the one posted here I would really like to see them. I have been out of shooting for a while and stuff like that helps get me pumped up. Also I have posted on the hunting and general forums about the PSE bows and would really like to see them in action. I am looking to get me a new bow. My old bow is from the 90's. It's a PSE Inferno with maxis cams. Needless to say I like speed but I am looking for something smooth and quiet also. I guess that would be a good reason to go to a 3D shoot again huh?:noidea: Do you'all remember Randy Ulmer? Well thats how long it's been since I shot in a shoot. Probably longer because he was probably still shooting for a while after I gave it up.

Ben
Its a Modular Hybrid Cam setup.. (i.e. Cam and 1/2 like).. Its not a dual or binary...

Those cam rotations are correct or atleast close. It has to do with the draw length. Because its modular draw length adjustments the cams never change size. Only the module changes. Inorder to get lower drawlengthd the cams don't rotate as much. Unlike Hoyts cam and 1/2 in which cam sizes change with draw length ranges.
Trust me they shoot just fine.

The hump at the end of the draw cycle on the new GX cam is much less pronounced, than it is in the HF cams.. But the hump is still there.

Hey Looney do you know if I can switch the HF cams over to the GX cams? I have a 08 Dream season and would like to change over to the GX cams I like the feel of the GX cams much better.

As far as I know the bow can handle it without funtioning problems. However I would suspect you would lose a few lbs of draw weight with the same string and cable measurements. I also don't know how the Draw length will translate. One of the things that was corrected from the HF to the GX was the DL and its accuracy. So if you do switch you may end up buying more than one mod to find your DL. It can be done if you are willing to play with it a little.
Chris 03-28-2009, 09:54 AM The first problem will be getting the GX cams.
The second problem is you will need new limbs and new strings and cables. I asked my PSE rep the same question.

I figured getting cams would be an issue. I know you would need new strings and cables. But limbs???????? Could you explain in a little more detail????

I was told limb deflections are different between the GX and HF cams
a1shooter 03-28-2009, 02:51 PM Does that mean a 70# limb on a GX camed bow wouldn't be a 70# limb with the HF cam? If thats the case then you would have to change cams, strings, cables, and limbs, correct? Or basically everything but the riser which didn't change from 2008 to 2009 according to the bow specefications pages on the PSE web site. The 2009 X Force Dream Season GX and 2008 X Force Dream Season HF both show a 896 limb.

That is correct, cams, string & cables, & limbs. They did not tell me which way the deflection went. So I could be heavier or lighter but would not be the same.
