I currently have a "Wal Mart" TRU-Fire release that has served me well for hunting; however, a buddy of mine just upgraded his entire setup and commented on how "fat" my calipers were. Is it true that wider calipers can detract from accuracy?

If so, what is a good release for hunting?

This is a loaded question. This is a question you must answer for yourself. How accurate do you want to be? Is there a magic release, no there is not.

If you spend the time and get the right coaching and the right equipment you can be extremely, even scary accurate. Equipment may make you a little better but practice and proper form will give you a bigger return on your investment.

Keep in mind that there are tons of archers who do not use a release aid. And, they are very accurate........They release with their fingers. I would say that their fingers are the widest jaws available.

That said.... Increased accuracy, based on caliper width, is not directly influenced by the width of the calipers. IMO
