Well finally got to shoot the line for the first time tonight. I shot ok, was kinda nervous at first and it showed on my score on the first half. I later settled down and shot about where I thought I should. Then later got into the handicap round they have and won it. Made a little money. Shot a 425 out of 450 on vegas. Was nervous and anxious and watching things I shouldn't have been watching. Once I settled down things started going my way. I shoot another 450 shoot saturday in gillette wyo. It was fun and know I will do better this weekend now I know what to expect and the procedures when shooting. It was a small shoot but have to start somewhere. I'm very persistant and I will prevail. I've shot competitive in different sports but my first serious archery league.

You did real well if you shot a 425 your first time on the line. It only goes up from there.

I'll keep you updated on the shooting and thanks. If things go the way I normally do it'll be interesting. Still need to add more weight to bow to steady my aim. I like the competition you feel that you don't get in practice!

I am a firm believer in a heavy bow. I weighed mine once years ago and it was about 9 pounds. That was my 3d setup. Even my hunting bow is kind of heavy. It kind of sucks to carry it through the woods, but I can hold it steadier. :biggrin1:
I don't know what kind of setup you are running, but you will probably find yourself getting your bow all pimped out with the fancy bling that the hardcore target shooters use. Long sight bar with scope, long stabilizer and v-bars, lizard tongue rest, all that good stuff. It is quite a bit of fun to experiment with new equipment. Jump on in, the water's fine. You will have a lot of fun and meet a lot of good people. You will also get all kinds of advice, some good and some not so good. You just have to try different things and figure out what works for you. Enjoy yourself. Good luck to you in your new found interest. :peace: :welcome:

Well I think the heavy bow within reason is a good thing. I'm shooting a shrewd system on stabilizers. I'm gonna try some doinker stuff here pretty soon. Today I shot another 450 shoot in gillette and shot a 430 with 17x's. I was happy with this shoot because this is the number I was trying to achieve or better. I set a goal and made it and that was important to me. I practice a lot and learning new techniques for shooting better. I'm now trying to make these habits natural but not their yet. Just keep shooting and working the form. I'm hoping by next spring to be in the 440's consistant. Try to shoot around 400 arrows a week depending on work stuff. I know if I shoot well maybe pick up some local help on shooting equipment on pricing.
