Well she is finally graduating from Nursing school on Dec. 20. So what I was wondering if anyone her has a wife or husband or friend that is a nurse? If so what would be a nice gift to get her for all her sacrifice for the last two years? I was wondering if there is something that a nurse could use on a daily baisis at work? All sugestions are welcome.

I would say the number one item a Nurse would use is a stethiscope. Some of them are pretty expensive especialy if you get into the cardiac scopes....:noidea:

All the Nurses I know really appreciate a high quality pair of shoes that are comfortable for all day standing and walking with a lot of cushion. They wind up standing a lot during the performance of their duty and it really takes it's toll on the body.

My wife is a nurse and there are several things that I learned over the years.
1. There is a huge difference between an Stethoscope and a Good Stethoscope. A good one will run for about 150.
2. A nice watch with a non-absorbant band, metal or plastic, water resistant, and must have a second hand.
3. I always know when it is time to buy her new shoes because she will start saying that her legs and knees hurt, make sure you keep her in good shoes, correct arch support, and forming insoles.
4. Oh, and take her out to dinner and a movie, she deserves it.
Tell her we all said a big CONGRADULATIONS.

First of all, in my many years of not understanding women, I have found out that personal sentimental things mean more.
Personally I would set up a day at a Spa (manicure, pedicure, massage , make up etc) to tell her I appreciate her as my wife most of all. She needs some stress free time. Then take her out for a nice dinner. (just you and her, without the kids if possible) A man should date his wife no matter how many years they have been married.
SECONDLY I would give her the money to buy what she wants to have for her chosen field. (practical gifts are nice but don't mean as much to most women) because you're not going to get the right thing anyway. Plus practical gifts incases like this I think seems to send the message that you are only grateful for what she is doing and not for who she is.
And then I would try to find a silly gift such as a stuffed animal that would have some significant meaning to the nursing field to apeal to her child-like qualities that we all have regardless of age. It's amazing how much silly stuff like stuffed animals. music boxes etc can mean to a lot of people.
Think....are you trying to say Thank You for becoming a nurse, OR Thank you for being my wife and helping me. Believe it or not, there is a differance and they recogonize it.

Thanks for all the input guys. She said she bought a very good stethiscope , I got her a pair of Dansko nursing shoes for Christmas, and she already has been looking at Nissan Pathfinders. I might look at a nice watch for her or if all else fails I'll get her the "Save the TATA's" bag:rockon: . If anyone else has a suggestion, please let me know.

I am about to start nursing school In the spring sem. My wife has been an RN and has earned her BSN recently. Nurses cant were lots of bling but a nice watch is good, as stated nurses love bags, good walking shoes, Quality outer wear if you live in a cold climate, Scrubs are paper thin, no matter the quality, Take her out to some place out of your price range, Just this once and dress nice(not your new camo), a day at the spa, women love cute cuddly things IE a vermont teddy bear, Good luck any gift that is heart felt will work.

And good luck to you in nursing school. She mentioned how cold and thin the scrubs are and most are pretty generic looking(for women)
