View Full Version : Best hunting arrows? Team 12Ring 12-17-2008, 05:44 PM what are your guys opinions on what the best hunting arrow is? My vote goes for the Easton FMJ's. red44 12-17-2008, 05:54 PM Why:noidea: Paul S. 12-17-2008, 06:40 PM Why:noidea: Is this not a disscussion board? I like the Easton Axis for hunting. I've had the same dozen for the last 2 or 3 years. I've never seen a more durable arrow. red44 12-17-2008, 07:06 PM Sorry if I was misunderstood. We are all allowed our opinion, just wanted him to explain why he thinks they are the best, for disscussion.:biggrin1: Team 12Ring 12-17-2008, 07:32 PM Sorry about not explaining. I feel that there isn't a more durrable arrow on the market that I have seen. They also make a passthru effortless. Daniel Boone 12-17-2008, 07:56 PM Very reasonable and tough as nails. All four arrows are complete pass throughs and still shootable. One right in the shoulder and still in tack from deer here. Paul S. 12-17-2008, 08:27 PM Sorry if I was misunderstood. We are all allowed our opinion, just wanted him to explain why he thinks they are the best, for disscussion.:biggrin1: Oh...okie dokie.:D I thought you meant why was he asking the question at all. red44 12-17-2008, 08:28 PM I really don't have one favorite. I have Maximas, Axis, Black Max's, Hunters, Ventures, and quite a few aluminums. I'm just now making up a doz GT Entradas for my son's GF for Christmas. I've had as many passthroughs with the fast/light arrows as the slim/heavier arrows. I wish I could wack a few with the recurve and compare.:frusty: jdawg240 12-18-2008, 06:56 AM I like the Axis shafts or ACCs for hunting. J.Blay 12-18-2008, 10:53 AM I use Carbon Express Terminator Lt. Selects. $65 a doz. I don't believe any carbon arrow would have survived where these haven't. I'm still shooting both arrows used in deer kills this year. These have less wieght variance than the Vapor pro's I tried. I'll be checking out Victory's Vforce V-3's next. Slippy 12-18-2008, 11:05 AM Victory V1s. Why? Cause thats what I use and I'm full of myself. hutchies 12-18-2008, 11:05 AM Very reasonable and tough as nails. All four arrows are complete pass throughs and still shootable. One right in the shoulder and still in tack from deer here. Ding ding ding................We have a winner. I have XT's that have been thru 2 and 3 deer. Spin test and resharpen and they are right back in the quiver. I have had very few broken. Out of the 8 I've killed in the last few years I have only lost 1 arrow. ciscokid 12-18-2008, 11:43 AM Very reasonable and tough as nails. All four arrows are complete pass throughs and still shootable. One right in the shoulder and still in tack from deer here. Same here. Do you save each arrow after the shot or just clean them up after each season? P.S. Have you had any luck with the bag of stuff behind the arrows? I ordered some last year or the year before and I haven;t used it yet! hutchies 12-18-2008, 11:49 AM Heck I clean, inspect, resharpen, and it is right back in the quiver for the next day as long as it is still straight and free of defects. bullfiddle 12-18-2008, 12:36 PM Victory V1s. But I would love to try some Victory V-Forces. wyoming4x4 12-18-2008, 05:34 PM what are your guys opinions on what the best hunting arrow is? My vote goes for the Easton FMJ's. I agree totally. Very durable arrow flys well and I like a little weight for my hunting arrow. I shoot a 11.1 at 29.5" 3"quickspins but still shoot fixed blades. Total weight 483g, I have shot them out to 100yrds just for fun and do shoot well. bocomo 12-18-2008, 05:44 PM Im a easton axis guy too. Ive been buying up every dozen i can since they stopped making them. deerassassin22 12-18-2008, 07:24 PM I currently use Gold Tip XT Hunters in black with 3 inch feathers work great. Got my first kill with them have had the same dozen for almost 2yrs. Got first kill with them last week at 15 yds with spitfire xp 100grs broke 2 ribs going in and 2 out destroyed both longs ran all but 40 yds and died. But recently ordered some Carbon Force X-Weave arrows and have yet to receive them but looking forward to shooting them. bullfiddle 12-18-2008, 08:28 PM true. Its infinite genious! Take that......BAM!!!!!!!! That the best you got Boy George?... :noidea: Man I am glad you got spelling skills....:pound: :pound: :pound: BUNNYMAN 12-18-2008, 08:40 PM That the best you got Boy George?... :noidea: Man I am glad you got spelling skills....:pound: :pound: :pound: yah it gud ting e ken pell cud e kent choot wert u durn........:noidea: sfhunter 12-18-2008, 10:14 PM Been using gold tip since i started. i think i am going to mix it up this year:usa: hunter2678 12-19-2008, 09:52 AM So far my axis shafts have been rock solid and field tested/proven....:D deerassassin22 12-20-2008, 09:13 PM Anyone have any input on the PSE Carbon Force X-Weave Pro arrows just purchased some should be done in a week or so. I got them fletched with 3inch feathers and crested. Also if you do use these arrows what illuminated knocks work well with them looked in bass pro couldn't find any for these specific arrows. Daniel Boone 12-20-2008, 10:56 PM Same here. Do you save each arrow after the shot or just clean them up after each season? P.S. Have you had any luck with the bag of stuff behind the arrows? I ordered some last year or the year before and I haven;t used it yet! I clean arrows of bucks shot and put them on the rack. I have cleaned arrows and used for turkey hunting arrows most the time if they have passed through deer. DB Ronhop 12-21-2008, 12:26 PM I use Axis 400's and they have served me really well. Before that I used CX terminators and they were fine too. I just got a wild hair and decided to change hunting arrows 3 years or so ago. Dicks Sports up in Chicago (Woodfield Mall) were blowing out 6 packs of Axis arrows for $34.95. I bought 3 packs. :peace: Of the 18 arrows I still have 15... :peace: One hit steel re-bar in a 3D deer target leg and it mashed the tip in a bit. The other 2 are laying in the woods behind the house someplace... :frusty: I use Spitfire mechanicals, Spitfire practice heads and Saunders Buldge field points. All work great and I will not be changing any of that setup any time soon. Ron 'SIN'ERGY 12-21-2008, 02:55 PM Sorry about not explaining. I feel that there isn't a more durrable arrow on the market that I have seen. They also make a passthru effortless. Maybe Easton should use that to advertise. Forget your broadheads,Our FMJ has effortless passthrough.  Sounds like something a counter guy at Gander or Cabelas would try to say to get you to buy something.:frusty: |
