Yep that 50 cal is one awesome round
just think in the WBTS they had 58 cal. traveled a lot slower but sure tore up a mass of bones.

does the US use ballistic tips?

The first two shots were Badgers. The Canadians were practicing in High Elevation areas before Afganistan, and were taking advantage of the smaller local Fauna as elusive targets.
I'm not sure about the second two shots. The third looked like it might have been a arm and shoulder flying off to the left, but it might have just been a torn up critter too. The last shot was a pretty big splash for a Badger.
They use a .50 and a Match Ammo, but the guys who got the longest Sniper shot recorded were actually using .50 Ball they got from the US troops they were attached to, because they were shooting so much that day they ran out. They found out the US ammo was hotter, and kentucky windaged it out farther than the ammo they usually used ever could.
