Earlier this month, I picked up a 2008 Elite Ninja GTO from Daniel Boone, our resident Elite Pro Staffer. The bow was in excellant condition, minus the nick or two from where he gravel tuned it  He had set it up for my draw length and even bought me dinner when I picked it up. Can't be a deal like that!!!! :peace: Over the last few weeks, I searched and found all the accesories to outfit the Ninja GTO: Vapor Trail Limbdriver rest, Impact Cosmic sight, and even bought me my very first thumb trigger release, a Spot Hogg Friday Night Delight. Merry Christmas to myself
This past weekend, my wife Sarah, step dad Robert and I took a road trip to Valdosta, GA to see my brother and his family. He is leaving for Korea soon, and I won't get to see him for at least a year, so road tripin' we go. 14 hours overnight was good time from Fairland, OK to Moody AFB in Valdosta, GA.
I hadn't even got to shoot the GTO so I packed it up and brought it along since I knew Friday and Saturday would be goof off days. Tommy and I ran down to the nearest archery shop Friday morning and picked up a Morrell Yellow Jacket, since his target was inadvertently left in Florida when they recently moved. Got back to his house and commenced finishing the setup on the GTO. I was pulling ~72lbs with the new FND, first time using it. First shot through paper was a nock right tear with a slight nock high. Adjusted the rest a little too far on the second one. Adjusted again and went to shoot and smack, the release went off early and the Ninja snuck an arrow clean through his garage wall  :frusty: :noidea: Decided then to back the poundage down some until I get used to the thumb trigger :tape: Went outside and shot a few times at the target and soon realized my peep was too low for the anchor I use. Back to the archery shop since I didn't have all the supplies to tie in the peep and probably couldn't have anyways since I had cut my left pointer finger last week and with stiches, its was still fairly imobile.
We arrived at Solo Archery in Valdosta, GA to some very helpful folks. (The tech was in the AF too  ) He retied my peep and even let me shoot on thier indoor range for an hour or so. Sighted in at 20 yards, I am now confident the rest of the setup will go smoothly :peace:
Heres my lowdown on the GTO: Without a doubt the smoothest drawing bow I have ever touched. Not much of a valley the way it was setup, but plenty of adjustment with the Elite bows. And it was wicked fast... ~395 grain arrow, ~66 lbs, 29" draw... 295 FPS!
I am extremely happy with my Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas to myself :peace:
