Getting ready to make a bunch of quivers for my Church Youth Group and not having a clue.
Luckily my 3 ladies are all sporting custom Wheely Quivers, to base my plans on, and not wanting to be left out myself, I found a few of my old "Sea bags" (Those would be "Duffle bags" for you Ground Pounder types) and took them apart, removed the straps and buckles, and flat pockets, etc. (I get issued a new one just about every deployment and the bottoms fall about after a few trips dragging them across the non-skid, anyway. ;-)
After only 4 hours of non-stop work :noidea: I now have it this far done:

Granted the bulk of my time was occupied with a seam-ripper, taking apart the old Sea bags, but converting the flat pocket to a stand-up "pouch" pocket took me almost an hour to figure out how to and then do, but I really didn't want to waste the already made pocket front and flap with snaps already installed.... the Pencil & Marker slip pocket was easy in comparison!
It should really go a lot quicker, now.

The bags should turn out OK. I hear most "Squids" take sewing lesson as well as home Ec in bootcamp anyway. By the way......This old "GRUNT" (ground pounder) called them "Sea Bags" Also. :usa:

That's no joke!
Especially if you are coing into the PR (Parachute Rigger) rating or get a billet in a Sail Loft.
Being self sufficient in the field ("outside the wire") or on extended deployment is of vital importance.

By the Eagle Globe and Anchor avatar I assume your paychecks were disbursed from the "Department of the Navy".

Do you always shoot with scissors or is that a navy thing as well? :noidea:
Is there another pocket for crochet needles and yarn? :noidea:
Just askin......

Those are not scissors, they are pinking shears.
Is there another pocket for crochet needles and yarn?
That will be in the main body, with the arrows.
Just askin......

Yes, Correct , The men's department. (Gotta have some inter-branch rivalry)
Don't know about the para Rigging. All they ever did in the Corps was push me out of "choppers" into rice paddies.
All kidding aside. You have my total respect. I may be old and here but my heart and soul are in the "Sandbox"
Good luck with the quivers

That's looking like a real cool start! I'm highly impressed. I can't sew sew more than a replacement button.

I have heard that you can make cheap front lips with stuff from home depot or lowes. What do i need to do it and is it worth it?

Quiver looks good, but what's up with the Angry baby sailor?

I can't see the pictures....can you email a picture of your quivers? I have a bunch of Sea Bags and have been using them to make many things. I use the backpack straps to attach to hang-on treestands to carry them into the woods! Been wondering what I could use the rest of the canvas for.....
