I'm gonna run this out here so that no one misses it in the Smack Down forum. When It is finished, then we can move it there where it belongs. Had some great scores this week. Lots of great shooters here to flirt with the pine of pain. Even better.....we have a lot of people just getting their start. To all of you.....you may be hittin the bench first.....but it will not be in vain. Not only will your scores improve and you will become a better archer, but you will also reduce the number of splinters the rest of us are left to pull out of our rears later today..... :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:

Here are the 24 shooters for week 1. If you turned in a score and I missed you, you have until I wake up to let me know. It is 2:30 am here so I'm sure I'll be sleepin in a little......:rockon:

Like last year.....I will only be revealing one end at a time. This is from keeping you impatient slackers at work right now from running out the sit down before I do. Plus like it adds DRAMA! Which has been NASCAR's buzz word for the last few years and they seem to be growing......:cool:

I will be eliminating 2 shooters per end until I am left with 10....then I'll send them packing one at a time. Points will be awarded for the top 10 finishers. When you are eliminated......pack up your gear.....keep your chin up....and shuffle on over to the pine bench. Have a seat and feel free to heckle the remaining shooters whild you dine on doughnuts and Mountain Dew.

At the end of 12 ends, I will roll 2 dice. What ever number I roll will be the next end I score. So no one.....not even me.....will know the outcome until it is over.

For ties....we have a shoot off. I go to the next end and the next end and the next end until someone goofs one out. If this doesn't make sense....hopefully it will by the end of the shoot.

And away we go........

Round 5 has brough us our first shoot off. Three shooters shot 27s and it only took one more round for Mike562 to come up a point short. Firechic predicted that her 27 would be the end for her, but not yet......

for some odd reason my arrow pattern is the same on each dot. i mean it differs from dot to dot. but like the bottom right hand spot my arrow are hitting high and left then center dot is high and so forth but i noticed most of the time my arrows are hitting to the left. got to fix that

Ouch! I guess there's more to this than just wishing it to happen. For my first time up after owning a bow for a month I'm still grinning though. I learned not to be adjusting sites and draw length during a 300 round though. Better luck next week. This is fun and the splinters are worth the effort.

This brings us to the end of our 12 rounds. I'll now be rolling dice to see which end I score next.

i was the trouble! LOL I turned my score in with x's counted in but also gave an total x count.

My ladies forgot to bring their score cards home, but based upon the "standard" method of scoring they have:

Mrs. Squid : 280/?
Icky: 250/?
Lizard: Had to be taken out due to a sudden bout of upset stomach in End # 8, but they will let her re-shoot the round on Saturday.:bowl:

Obviously none of my girls are shooting at the levels of many here and thus have ZERO chance of "winning" anything. But we will continue to participate.

well i shot a 5 spot and my score is 300 59 x at the end man i was tried i hit the five miss the x well let me know how i did

To some of the folks that are trying to have fun learning the NFAA Indoor 300 Round

Hopefully to not add any confusion to the scoring I will try to help

A standard NFAA 300 round game can be shot on 2 different style target faces both the same game but yet different.

Most people start out in life with the SINGLE SPOT target face – all 5 arrows will be shot at this same face per round
Rings scored – the” blue area”1-2-3-4
All of the white area is worth 5
And the center of the white 5 has a “circle with the x” this area is used for counting the Xs
Best possible score on 1 round of 5 arrows in the X area x 5 pts each = 25 points with a 5X

NOTE >>>>>> the only thing different in the Smack league is the small X area is worth 6 points and jcmorgan31 asked us to still keep track of the Xs for something needed at the end of the season
Best possible in Smack league on 1 round of 5 arrows in the X area x 6 pts each = 30 points with a 5X

Advantages of this face
More forgiving - you have 5 score able rings - giving you more area to score points when your groups take up more space

Disadvantages –
1 - as you get better more of your arrows will be hitting the X area thus causing possible damage to your nocks and feathers or vanes
2 – You will have the chance of your arrow glancing off of the back of another arrow when shot causing it to hit outside your desired scoring area.

The “5 SPOT” target Face has its advantages and Disadvantages
They are
Advantages – 1 arrow shot per spot – no damage on arrows and no glance outs caused by another arrow.
Legally you can still shoot a couple or all your arrows at 1 of the small spots on a 5 spot yet – this has saved some folks on a flyer that just happens to land on an spot not intended – or actually pulling up and aiming at a spot you shot at already.

Disadvantages – the score able area consist of only the 4 point score ring and the 5 point area
If you miss the smaller diameter area that you have on a 5 spot you get a zero on that arrow

Here again scoring is
Rings scored – the” blue area -4 points
