I have an older PSE USA Spirit and want to adjust the draw weight down. I have been told to turn the limb bolts fully clockwise and then back them off counterclockwise and to mark the bolt and the limb. My question is how many full turns counterclockwise do I turn and is there a danger of the limbs flying off? Also will this affect the draw length (anchor point)?

Thanks,

I wouldnt go more than 4 turns. usually bows have a weight range of 10 lbs and 1 full turn is 2-3 lbs. depending on how much weight you let off, the brace height and therefore the drawlength could be affected, but it should be minimal.

My first bow was a PSE an it had 70 lb limbs which was way too much for me. The bow was given to me so I couldnt complain. I contacted PSE and was told to not back the bolts off more than 6 turns. So what did I do backed them off 8 turns. I shot it a long time like that till I got a new bow that was 60lb.:
