Archery Targets and Backstops ? From everything I've checked out - they claim to have a backstop that will stop a carbon arrow. Maybe someone on here has used one or knows someone who does - what are your thaughts ? I am hoping to pick up a 4' x 6' heavy duty (for my peace of mind). I just about put an arrow in the whole house ac unit the other day :censored: sweetpea111 03-04-2009, 07:35 PM What I have used and find it works very well is steal belting. jim p. 03-05-2009, 11:22 PM The wife ordered a 4' x 6' heavy duty for me today. She said for the small price difference, I should go with the heavier one. After 30 years, I've learnt to not quesiton her judgement  jim p. Ideally, you want the layers to hang freely and not be secured along the sides or bottom.. the first layer absorbs most of the energy and the second layer is sufficient to stop the arrow. In most cases I've never had an arrow even poke through the back side of the second layer. I'm using some commercial grade, rubber backed "glue down" carpet, left over from an install in a high traffic store in a shopping mall , so YMMV.
