I totally understood why you asked if the YSDM micro stretcher would hold up or be able to put enough tension on strings. The pics of them in catalogs and online don't do them justice.

I just picked up a set today. Man, they are alot more heavy duty then they look in the pics.  There is not a single doubt that these will be able to handle some heavy tension if needed.

Good to know, the pictures make them look very flimsy... I was afraid I'd have to weld some triangular side-plates to them to beef them up. Cool!

When I was down at the electrical supply warehouse on Friday buying the Uni-Strut, they let me back into the warehouse and I saw some seriously heavy duty 8" "L" brackets for the Uni-Strut.. they had to be be at least 3/8" steel and they had lots of other goodies which really got me thinking.

The Yellow Stone Micro Stretcher is not "micro" at all, in fact it is quite substantial, the steel angles are 0.27" (+/-.001")

How much tension can you apply with it? I have no idea but it's a LOT.
Enough to rip out the ends of a 2 bundle Flemish Twist.
Enough to have me scared to apply any more tension to an old retired string I tried to snap.

Here are some pictures to give you an idea of the scale of it...

Now, if my JoeBass string jig arms would get here, I can start building some SWEET strings, again...

It came that way...
They told me I could have any color I wanted as long as it was Perma-Green III
(Factory applied, electro-deposition acrylic coating) Seriously tough stuff!!!!
