Some of my feathers got wet today and really flattend out, can I blow dry them or let them set:noidea: , or are they trashed? Yes I forgot to protect them with anything:doh: :frusty:

First get them dried out. Then:

If you have a tea pot then boil some water. As the steam rises from the spout you pass the feathers through the steam and watch them stand up. They may not come back to new condition, but close.

they are allreday fluffing up, just ran my finger over em to get em to stand, will try the steam, Thanks:rockon:

Just whip the arrow a few times in the air, the feathers will puff out, and then just run you hand down the arrow to put them back in shape. Done it a million times. :cool:

they are back to shape today. ready to shoot if the wind dies down.

I have always shot feathers, coming from traditional archery that's all that will work shooting from the shelf. Has anyone else noticed that it really makes no difference how ugly they get, they shoot the same?

They shoot pretty much the same if they are ugly, beat up, torn in half, and many times with one or two missing from the arrow

All you really have to do is continue to shoot them when they get wet and they'll straighten themselfs out.

I have some ugly ones right now and was thinking about reflectching them. But as I was pulling them out of the x'es I thought, why would I do that:noidea:

Just use cheapo silicone spray.

The carrier smells but dries scent free.

The specialty stuff is just a ripoff. Just like the scent sprays.

As for fixing wet feathers.... Just let them dry and then 'groom' them with some hot water/steam. The tea pot suggestion would probably work well.

Feathers will parachute on you at distance over 35 yards
this means that they will go up and lay down as they move toward the target
they are very forgiving to shoot and have a nalstalgic feel and look to them
with the newer ones that are very flexible to use
the feathers a good for the traditionalist as they have a shorter distance to shoot and different rests types as well
