when you guys cut a new dozen shafts, do you just cut the insert end of the shaft or do you cut both ends, starting at the nock end, square it and then cut the insert end and square it?

If you cut both ends, how much do you take of the nock end? 1 inch, 2inch, half of the total of what you have to take off?

Even though I shoot GT pro series arrows I still cut 1 1/2" from the nock end first. I've found that most imperfections conserning straightness is at the nock end, but it can be at both ends. Once this is done I install the nocks and cut to length.

How much you cut from the nock end is determined somewhat by the full length of an uncut shaft and how long your finished shaft has to be. In other words suppose your shafts are 32" full-length. If you need to end up with a 30" arrow then you'd only cut 1" from the nock end for starters.

It's real easy to take .003" shafts and end up with .002 or less by cutting both ends. Thus alleviating the need to buy .001 shafts (more money) in the first place.

Make any sense?
