my advice would be to ask someone who knows what they are doing if they can "guide" you on your hunt

stalker, i cant sit too long.

If you want to get close, real close. You have to be quiet, real quiet. I take my boots off, leave the socks on. If you are not a local, you have to become one quick. Get there at least 3 days before season to find a good area with sign. Hike 10 - 15 miles a day scouting. Look for scrapes and stomps. Find that area, a good fresh trail and track um down. If there is farmland, hunt the outskirts. An experienced deer hunter can smell a buck at 100 yards. GPS - optics - camo - patience - luck. And most important of all: The expectancy you will see what you are hunting for any second.

power tech,

thanks for the reply i do have one more newbie question? what else should i be looking for if i'm bow hunting? you said scrapes and stomps, do you still look for these signs when they are in velvet? or will they not scrape till later? what do stomps look like?
