Ok!!!!!! It is time for our 2nd CCA shootout event. It is going to take place September 5th & 6th. We are going to have a pro class with entry for of $100, mens and womens open class, mens and womens fixed pins, and recurve and longbow classes with entry fee $30-- all these classes have 50% payback with added $250 in all classes. We will also have youth classes. We give belt buckles to all first place winners. You must attend both days, shoot your 20 targets on Saturday and on Sunday we take the top 5 out of each class and they do a 5 target shootoff and take a random 5 for a 1 target shootoff for $100. Then at the end of all this we do award ceremony and we take everyones cards from Saturday and do drawings for archery related prizes. We had a wonderful turn out last year and hope to make this year bigger and better for you shooters. Visit coyotebluffarchery.com for directions.
For those who did not attend last year is a quote from a fellow archer who had this to say "What an incredible weekend for Oklahoma archery...You guys have set a new standard in Oklahoma by which other tournaments will be judged...Not only did you put so much time and in effort into putting on a great shoot, but you brought something special to all of us...You found a way to bring traditional archers and compounders, amateurs and pro, hunters and targets shooters together in a atmosphere where each and everyone felt at home....You set a course that was both fair and challenging, and then stepped it up a further notch by making the top shooters prove they belonged and put them face to face in a winner take all shoot-out...And with everything on the line and having your every shot hanging on the tips of everyone's attention, rattled even the most seasoned archers...But you guys didn't stop there...You gave everyone a chance at glory by drawing names at random for their one shot moment of fame....And again we were all equals...No one looked the sponsors on shirts or equipment in our hands we were just archers enjoying what we love in our hearts....Finally you guys payed out winnings that would rival any national shoot or Pro/Am and then turned around and gave equal chance prizes by the likes that Bass Pro or Cabelas would envy....But here's the kicker...The members of CCA. all of you, did this, not wanting praise or recognition, you did this to selflessly promote the sport of archery...You have spent months preparing and hours of labor polishing just so we could have a weekend to cherish with fellow archers...To this archer this speaks volumes not only about you as great people, but to your characters, and as ambassadors to our sport...My hat is off to each and everyone of you, and I'm it makes me proud to have been lucky enough to be a part of it....Thanx for everything..."

What are the shoot times?

Shoot times are from 8-3 trickle start with scorekeepers as last year. If someone needs earlier start time let us know. There is a correction, the pro class has a 85% payback plus the added $250.

Is the Pro class paying out three places or just one?

luvcamogirl
08-05-2009, 10:35 AM
The semi's will be in pro class, payout will determine how many entries there are per class. Also we are setting up two ranges, one for traditional shooters and the other one for compounds. We are letting compounders shoot the recurve and longbow classes on top of shooting their regular class, just pay your entry fee and shoot, more chance on getting in shootoff and winning more money.

Ordered prizes this week. I will post a complete list as soon as I find it. LOL. Been buying bows this week as well. I can tell you that we have a Mathews Monster, a PSE Bowmadness XS, a Pearson Spoiler, a Hoyt Hawk series bow, an Alpine Micro youth bow, and a longbow made by Darrel Trout. Those of you that were at this shoot last year know that this is just the tip of the iceberg in giveaway prizes. Every tournament scorecard turned in will be entered into drawings. Can't wait to see you all there!

Not sure if I'll be able to make it to this one. Sad, because you guys put so much into it and I would like to see all my buddies, but I have a lot of things that I need to take care of that weekend.

From what I've heard a lot of the pros won't be able to make it due to being out of town and what not, and with the entry fee at $100 I'm not sure if I could make it if I would be able to shoot it.

We put the $100.00 per the Pro's request. Now what pro's are not going to make it and if it is majority would like a lessor entry fee then speak up. Trying to get more here not less so let us know.

What pro's are you referring to dicksenn.

Devine Shot
08-22-2009, 12:31 AM
Last year we charged 30 dollars for the Pro entry fees just like all the other classes. CCA and the range took 15 and the pot took 15.

Last year the Pros at the shoot said this big shoot like this ought to charge bigger entry fee for the Pros so that the pay outs would be enough to attract more of the Pros to come.

So that is exactly what we are trying to do. This year the range and CCA will still take 15 dollars same as last year and the other 85 dollars goes into the pot to be paid to the best shooters. I would say that is a heck of a deal.

I think the pros were looking at the Hunter winner that got paid $600.00 plus dollars in cash for winning and they got $250.00

CCA's Goal is to get shoots that can compare to a national shoot right here in OKLAHOMA. We can never reach that goal if we keep the mindset of just another local shoot. It would be nice to have a shoot like this run 4 to 5 cities in OK and have a championship at end of year.

We are gonna make some mistakes. So all I am asking is get all pros to pm me with there thoughts ans as a committee we can make the right decision. It boils down to we are not making any more money of of this class than any other. We didn't raise the Pro entry fee so that we could make more money off of them, we are giving the difference back to the shooters. We were told that we would attract more pros if we raised the entry fee to make a more attractive payout for them, if the majority do not feel this way then PLEASE let us know as we are here to try to attract as many shooters to the area as possible not run them off.

Devine Shot
08-22-2009, 12:44 AM
As for the Semi Pros having to shoot against the Pros. Please remember that we are adding $250 to the payouts in each class regardless of number of entries. We cannot possibly afford to recognize all of the ASA classes. We had to merge some of them. Pros and Semi Pros shoot together. Open A, B and C are all merged to one open class. Hunter and Unlimited (with a shorter stabliizer) and Bow Novice are merged together.

On a side note: As I recall two semi pro guys took the top two places in the Pro class last year at the CCA shoot.

I have talked with many about this event.

I would make is a $40.00 entry fee like the qaulifiers. Lower the added money but add something depending on the turnout.

Money tight for many this year and traveling both days for several is not cheap. Far as the semis shooting against the pros in this state. Good chance there taking home the bucks. I understand what your trying to do. I appreciate this event and do think in time it will grow.

I feel the higher entry fees may draw more pros from further away with the chance to win more money. With that being said, I also feel you have to keep it affordable for everyone involved. What the happy medium is I don't know....

Unfortunately I personally won't be attending this year due to a conflict with my Elk hunting schedule in Colorado and Idaho!!!! A man must prioritize things in his life and Elk hunting is pretty high on the list!

I hope you all have a wonderful turn out this year and I really was dissapointed when I realized that I wouldn't be here for your shoot. It is a great thing you do for Oklahoma Archery and for archery in general and my hat is off to all of you that make this possible. This is a very well run shoot and I encourage anyone who can make it to this shoot to come join the fun and enjoy yourself.

We at CCA just adjourned our meeting regarding the Pro money entry fee.

Due to the fact that we have printed all Flyers and made it public through the internet with the $100.00 entry fee, we have chosen to keep it at that amount.
We know some dear friends are on hard times at this time and will definitely be missed, but as a group that wants to keep its reputation, we do not want to take the chance for one pro that drives from out of state and gets here and was expecting the 100.00 entry which would normally make a bigger pot. I know we can make public the change still but can not guarantee everyone will get the same information.

On a second note, We at CCA have never looked at this event being a local shoot. The goal is to grow it to the number found generally at a National Event. For that to happen we have to takes steps that would attract shooters to travel long distances.

The difference from 40.00 entry to a 100.00 based on 6 shooters in this class. We had 6 in the class last year.
CCA puts in 250.00 guaranteed either way.
40.00 on 6 shooters $150 plus 250.00 CCA money
100.00 on 6 shooters $510 plus 250.00 CCA money

This is going to be bigger and even better event than last year. Just remember the door prize trailer. Where else you going to have a chance to win a Monster from Mathews
PSE Bowmadness XS
Pearson Spoiler
Hoyt Hawk
Alpine Micro(youth bow)
A Longbow
And not forget all the Great Hunting prizes from Trail camera, treestands, Ladderstand,Binos, Feeders and much much more.......

In Total Cash before the first shooter shows up CCA has offered $2,450.00 in winnings guaranteed.

This is one event you will not want to miss, I hope everyone understands and thanks for everyone's input, Due to the Input you pro's have given CCA, has got us thinking of some better ideas for next year, so please do not feel like we did not listen because we really did.
Thanks from the CCA STAFF....

I totally agree if you set the rules and send out flyers you follow those rules to the Tee. Worse thing any tournament can do is bend or change the rules for some. Great event and I highly recommend anyone that wants to attend a good tournament with lots of prizes this is one of Ok. premier events.

Even if you don't make the shootdowns you will still want to be there on Sunday. If your name gets called out for one of the SIX brand new bows or any of the other FABULOUS prizes that we are giving away and you are not there....we will draw someone else's name. Sorry but YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN!

We are also having a milk jug shoot on Sunday at 9am. We will draw 32 names at random on Sat night, and yes I will attempt to call ALL of you, but I make no guarantees for calls on milk jug shoot.(just shoot downs). If you have never shot/ seen one of these before, I guarantee you will have a blast! You will shoot at a milk jug filled with water and mounted on a pulley system at 30 yards. The goal is to shoot enough holes in your milk jug so that all your water drains out causing your opponents jug to fall to the ground. If your opponents jug hits the ground you advance to the next round. Winner will take home a prize! There is no entry fee. We have enough fun stuff going on that I guarantee you will not be bored.

It's getting closer, and I am getting PUMPED!!!

There is a slight chance of scattered showers tomorrow. :rain: We will be shooting rain or shine. If it starts lightening we will call a delay but we will not cancel.

There are several big tents that you can get under to stay dry if it starts raining hard. It's pretty wooded so it has to really pour before it will bother you much anyway. Beauty of the trickle start is that if you are lucky you will be able to avoid the rain anyway.

Trust me this shoot is worth getting a little wet for!!!! :biggrin1:

Hey DB worn out is right. We had one awesome shoot this past weekend. Man you guys missed the best shoot Out of the year. We had women stepping up and hitting 14 after 14 in front of probably over 300 spectators. I will tell you the biggest thrill for me this weekend was to watch family members(from parents grandparents and cousins) coming down to watch their shooter shoot it out on Sunday. That was pretty cool to have so many spectators yelling for their shooter. We will be getting pics put up tomorrow.

CCA has two main goals, one is to give the regular shooters a tournament to shoot for with a nice cash reward to put a litttle extra pressure on them to get them ready for a national shoot(With the shootdowns). And second and probaly most importantly is to get new shooters out to experience 3D. The WOMEN out numbered the Men's Open Class. WOW.......... When walking around the nearly 250 shooters who shot the tournament I would say that over half were not regular shooters. This atmosphere of Sunday especially gets the social enviroment and shooters get to do what they do best is Tell m um sum stories.....

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE THAT COME OUT AND SUPPORTED CCA SPONSORS AND SHOOTERS........ By the end of Sunday I was getting pretty wore out and then Shooters just kept coming up and thanking us for having such an event. That right there made all of it very much Worth It. Thanks Guys......

DB - I will get results posted tonight. All of the info is at home on my comp. Would have done it yesterday, but I was too pooped to move. I laid around the house in my nightgown all day. Lotta sleepless nights come with hosting this event floolowed by long hard working days. Promise will get them up tonight though!
