I am in the market for a new bow and so much has changed over the past years I have been away from archery, and I mean a lot! I have tried a few of the latest and greatest with mixed feelings on them. I shot the Alpha Max, which was awsome to shoot... somewhat forgiving, blazing fast and little recoil. Next was the Elite GT500... WOW! Very nice, very nice bow. I only shot it a few times so I don't have much expirence concerning the accuracy, but it felt nice. The last bow I shot was the Monster and what a monster it was! FAST FAST FAST!!!! Top heavy and a bit akward. My question to ya'll is which will perform the best in the field not just on paper. Do any of you have some expirence to draw my final conclusion on?

You wont be dissapointed. Shot this bow all 3d season. Getting ready to shoot the Z28 for hunting season. Elite makes great bows.

Not long from now there bringing the 2010 line out.

Best bows I ever shot.

You are going to have as many opinions as you will posts on here. All anyone can do is give you their opinion and hope that it will help. Personally I like a Hoyt. I shoot the Vetrix and am more pleased with it every time I shoot it. I've shot Bow Techs, PSEs, Mathews, and Champion Bows. I have to say that the Hoyt is the best I have found yet. I have all the confidence in th world that with my setup I can take a deer at 40 yards. The good thing is is that there are so many companies out there that make good bows its hard to go wrong. Buy something that you have confidence in and can shoot well and you will be fine.

I seen your signature, are you a Marine?

Most Everyone knows my opinion. I am and have always been a Hoyt Fan. The alpha max is an awesome bow. You wont find a better bow than it when it comes to hunting. Quiet, forgiving, and DEAD in the hand. Just and awesome bow and one thing about it is HOYT has definatly proven themselves with how well there bows are built and how accurate they are. They have not lost a tournament in Indoor, field or the fita field. Just goes to show you how accurate they are. I do agree. Be sure and try a few more bows out that you are interested in so you wont ever regret not giving a particular bow a chance.
Just my 2 cents.

Its all personal preference. I don't shoot hoyt because of the draw cycle, hurts my shoulder. I can draw 60lbs was easier with a drenalin as to a katera.

And just so you know, dave cousins was beat by a guy shooting a mathews in a world cup field shoot in 2006.:tape: just pointing that out:biggrin1:

Before you spend the $$$ on an Alpha Max, check out the Turbo Hawk. I'm a big Hoyt fan. I shoot a Vectrix. I haven't found anything significantly faster, quieter, and dependable for me to spend the $$$ to upgrade, yet. The only thing I like better about the Alpha max is it's lightness. If I were to buy a new bow today I'd probably look for an "08" Vectrix Plus or the Turbo Hawk. As far as the super fast bows like Monster and the PSE Xforce, I'll give them a couple more years to work out any bugs that may interfere with tunability or durability. Neither design has been around long enough to have proven itself to me, yet. I haven't shot the Elite's yet, but I'll bet DB's evaluation is a good one. Buy the way, I bought my "07" Vectrix new at the end of "08" for under $500. I've found that nearly any top priced bow can be had for 1/2 to 2/3 the list price if I'm willing to wait untill it's no longer in fashion to own one. Don't be affraid to buy a new "07" or "08" model left on the rack. There are so many great bow around, I don't think you can go wrong as long as you buy a design that's been around long enough to have proven itself. Have fun, I do.:thumb:

As many have already said there are quite a few good bows out there today. I have been shooting Elites for the last two years and couldn't be happier. The GT500 is one awsome bow. But shoot whatever YOU pick.

I was talking about this year. I dont know how the draw cycle of a Drenalin feels better than the Z3 cams. In my opinion it doesnt pull anywhere near as smooth as the Ketera Xl with Z3 cams. The Z3 cams are the smoothest cams I have ever pulled when it comes to a hunting bow with speed.

The brand of bow is unimportant except for how they support the sale and the community...

If one feels better to you then that is the one for you..
