In the past I was a Keep It Simple Stupid kinda archer,Well, I still am. I would tell you that in my opinion that a drop away was not as reliable as a prong or full containment arrow rest. Like the Infiniti or Whisker Biscuit.
I would tell you that there were to many moving parts to bind up or go bad.
I would say that the cord was the weakest link and if it came undone you might be out of the shot of a lifetime when ol' Buck Nasty walked out there and dropped his head away from you.
But in the past couple weeks I have been playing with drop away rests some more. One in particular, the Ripcord Rest.
Now I have owned one before and sold it after having an issue that I knew was caused by my not installing the cord correctly. I liked the rest but felt if that could happen once, well It could happen again.
After working on my wifes ripcord for a bit and then also having to replace the cord and actually seeing how the internal mechanism works I can no longer take this stance.
In all honesty there are about the same amount of moving parts on the Ripcord as there is on the Infiniti prong rest I currently use.
So here it is to all the drop away manufactures out there, I am sorry I doubted the reliability of the drop away design. I have been proven wrong by my own hand and now see the err of my judgment.
A drop away will work well as long as you check it and maintain it just like everything else on you bow.
Now I said my piece and feel better.
I also have a few Ripcords for my bows on the way too me today. Will be in the drop away crowd asap.
