Hello,

I'm a new member and am just getting back into archery after about 38 years. And very excited about it. I'm 58 now, recently retired, so I have the time to get back to some of my hobbies, including archery.

I just bought a Samick Sage T/D bow to start with. Always loved the recurves.

My question is: I have an outdoor range near me, and plan on using it most of the winter, at least before the snowfalls. Is there any issue with the cold affecting the bow laminations, or anything else, that I should be aware of?

Thanks,

Bernie

Cold? No you shouldn't have a problem as far as damage goes. You might have a very small change in your shot but should be neglegable. What you need to be more worried about is high temps i.e. bow being left in car, or being wet for a long period of time (just be sure to keep your string waxed and don't leave the bow in the car).

Thanks for the comments on the weather, as it affects target shooting. I appreciate your experience.

Extreme cold here in Michigan's late bow season effects me far more than my bow. I don't change the way I aim due to the cold, but I do need to practice in any weather and any clothing I plan to hunt in. Shoot from your blind or practice elevated if you use a treestand. Head wear and gloves can change shot placement and need to be compensated for as needed. Bulky coveralls, boots, ect. create their own issues, like restricted movement while climbing up to my treestands. Have fun, I hope you share your experiences with us.:welcome:
