So I see the Drueys and others on TV that swear by hunting the nasty low pressure days., We have a big nasty low blowing in tomorrow. Im thinking of getting the rain gear out and sitting. Anyone have luck on these types of weather days? :noidea:

I like to still hunt in the rain. The deer move, just not as much if it's really windy. It was rainy today, and I saw deer, but not before they saw me. During the rut and pre rut, I'll hunt in any weather.

I don' like hunting when it's raining hard. If you don't make a great hit it a lost deer because you can track it. The doe I had on here it was raining so I shot it in the spine and put her down. I knew if I got a bad hit she be gone so I waited for the best shot I could make. I have help to many guys who shot deer in the rain and we lost it because there was no blood. I have hunted 45 year and when it's raining hard my experience is that they hold up and don't move good. The best days are before a front and after one has gone through. The first clear sunny day after a rain the bucks get out refreshen there scrap and are on the move.

Here in Illinois we have had a limited number of dry days this season and are on our way to a banner year. I shot a big nine point last year in the rain and lost blood in the down pour. Had to find him the next afternoon. Meet was shot but yoties couldnt find him either.

deer love moving in the rain, especially if it cools down a warm day, wind if the downslide in my experiences, it affects their sences, most windy days, went by with out seein anything, and a wind headache on top of it, unless it was the rut, but hunt them rainy days, especially during an incoming cold front :peace:

deffinate agreement, the downside of hunting in the rain, wait for the right shot, and bring him down within sight, rain will always ruin a once good blood trail, the doe i shot a couple weeks ago was shot during rainy and wet conditions, including a complete lack of sign the deer had ever been their luckily i heard her crash, went to that spot, turned out she only went 20 yards, On those really rainy days ill even opt for a full quartering away shot, less than 20 yards, in the kill zone.
