US Collegiate Archery is pleased to announce that the National Field Archery Association (NFAA) has sanctioned its World Archery Festival “Vegas Tournament” as a collegiate event, offering compound and recurve collegiate archers the chance to compete for first, second and third place individual awards, as well as team awards for college archers. The archers will still sign up in their respective Vegas divisions, but will list their university. NFAA staff will then separate those athletes to determine placements for the college division. All US Collegiate Eligibility rules apply for this event. Archers who have any questions about eligibility rules should contact Membership/Eligibility Manager Chad Mansfield at 714.300.4467 or registrar@uscollegiatearchery.org.
Historically the largest and most well-attended indoor tournament of the entire year, the Vegas tournament has been home to over 1,000 registered archers per year in the compound, recurve and crossbow disciplines, adults and youth shooters alike. The competition consists of the traditional 3-spot, 30-arrow “Vegas Round,” shot over three days, that made the tournament world-famous. The NFAA is expected to pay out a total of over $165,000 in prize money this year.
The World Archery Festival is also home to the many manufacturers and organizations who participate in the World Archery Festival Trade Show, where archers can demo the newest and hottest archery products on the market from manufacturers such as Hoyt and Matthews; meet the top professional archers in the country, and learn more about archery membership organizations such as US Collegiate Archery, the National Field Archery Association, USA Archery and others. The competition and tradeshow are scheduled to take place over February 19-21, 2010 at the Riviera Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas; for more information or to register to shoot, please visit the NFAA online at http://www.fieldarchery.org.
