I am.

Gun season starts here this weekend and in OK we can carry both weapons while hunting. I'm primarily going to be bowhunting, but my rifle will be hanging on a limb within arms reach "just in case".

Anybody else doing this or are you diehard, bow only?

I'm too lazy to carry both. I'll just be taking the gun for a while. I've been bowhunting hard for the past few weeks and this will be a change of pace for me. I like to hunt on the ground and I can be a little more mobile. One more nice buck for me and I'll be duck hunting and coyote calling.

Nothing but the Bow for me. Just regret it if I shoot a buck at long range. I just enjoy having to get them in close. That is just me do not think it is wrong for anyone to use rifle just not for me.

I tried just bow hunting one full season when I lived in Georgia.

About 8:30 AM, on opening morning of gun season, a 14pt buck that I had hunted all through bow season walked through the clearing I was was hunting. I stood there, bow in hand, and watched him walk by 75 yards away. I still swear that he looked in my direction and stuck his tongue out at me.

The gun came with me the next weekend. I never saw the deer again.

I carried both and ended up killing one deer with the bow and no shots taken with the gun.

Most wont be happy until we shoot arrows out of gun barrels.:frusty:

Technology to build some massive crossbows is out there and it will happen with locking device and locked crossbows. I saw some at the trade show that looked nothing like a crossbow. More like something the military would use.

Oklahoma Bowhuntng council has fought this for many years.

I'm with you. I don't really like or want crossbows becoming legal for bow season either.

BUT, I know there are people that don't like bowhunting period and I guess I wouldn't want them to dictate what I can and can't do just because they dont like it. So, I guess I won't do the same to the people who want to hunt with crossbows. We have plenty of deer right now and if people want to hunt with something that can ethically kill deer, then I guess I shouldn't fight it - otherwise I am no different than the people who are trying to ban bow hunting.:noidea:

I like all good, ethical, legal hunters -no matter what weapon they use. Everybody's :welcome:

The people I will go to war against are the butt heads that give us good hunters a bad name. Some of them use a bow, some use a gun, some will use a crossbow for sure. I hate them all equally.
