Decided sit through a shower and some gusty winds yesterday evening. I sat the same area saturday of the first gun season and saw a couple good bucks (next years shooters) and a few does but the location didn't lend itself to hanging a treestand or using my climber.
Hunting on the ground is not something I do often but in the right areas(such as standing corn) can be effective.
Really wish I would have gotten some better pictures, my photographer(my brother/hunting partner) had to work so I was on my own!!
I thought I had missed when I released but once I got to where the doe turned into the standing stalk I found my arrow and had great blood even with the rain coming down in buckets for all of about 60 yards then a fuzzy brown doe at the end of it! Hit was low, just an inch or tow above the brisket but it angled directly through the vitals taking out the bottom rear corner of the left lung, rear ventricle of the heart and the lower front corner of the right lung before exiting in the area of the right "armpit".
More points for my team!
