Well, I'm back from the Mathews show. Got to shoot the Triumph and also shot the Monster 7.

The Triumph, it's not that top heavy. I thought from the pics that it would have been very top heavy. It's slightly top heavy. Didn't notice it at all when I was a full draw. It aimed very well. The riser is stout like the Z7 only longer.

Now that said, let me tell you some differences from the Apex/Apex7

The draw is smooth. I think it's smoother than the Z7. The wall is good but not super hard. Now, hand shock and vibration is slight for a bow this big. I owned 2 apex 7's and they have a lot more vibration and handshock than the Triumph. A good stabilizer would probably eliminate it all easily.

Now some will say they like the feedback of the older, longer bows. I don't believe that, otherwise why would the bstingers be so popular, but that's another topic. Back to the bow.

Fit and finish is very nice, the limb pockets look great. The cam looks very similar to the Z7 cam.

Overall, it's a great bow. Now, the question is will the target guys go for a long riser short, semi-parallel limb bow? It is different than past bows and it's what a lot of guys have asked for. I would be happy to shoot it but I'm not afraid to try new things.

Now, the Monster 7. This bow really surprised me by how easy the draw was. I thought it was quite a bit different than the regular monster. Disclaimer, I didn't have a scale to check weights of the bows.

Mathews did really good this year with the Z7 and the other bows are just the icing on the cake.

Get to your dealer and shoot the new bows and see what the fuss is all about.

There both nice bows. I thought they were ugly from the pictures. But seeing them there not that bad.

Actually good shooting bows.

Z7 very quiet.

Thanks Chris for the review. I'm trying to decide between the M7and Triump. I'm leaning toward the M7 for speed do to short draw length 28".

Dont buy the M7 untell you try the Triump. My understanding this is quite the shooter and will be the tournament bow. Speed should be plenty for ASA.

Art (ABOK) ordered his this week.

Hey Dan would you use the triumph for tournament and X7 for hunting or would you buy 2 triumphs.

Hey Dan would you use the triumph for tournament and X7 for hunting or would you buy 2 triumphs.

I would hunt with a 80% Monster Bow. Monster has proven to be a good hunting bow.

Triumph is diffiantly a tournament bow but certianly shoots more than fast enough for hunting.

Im actually getting where I like short axle bow for hunting. Just fits better in the treestand.

Chris when would you expect demo bows to be in the dealer's hands?

I doubt there will be a demo Triumph.

Why not? I don't think I could lay down that kind of cash without shooting one. That would be crazy.

because dealers have to pay for the bows... and not many dealers will order a C-T...

I know that I will stick with my old bows for now..

Chris,

The Mathews website mentions a "Quick Change Axel" on this bow. Can you tell us a little more about that?

What's the reason for it?

Thanks,
Allen

That is so if you are bored sitting in yout tree stand:bored: and decide "hey, I think I'll change my draw length" you can whip your cable press out of your day pack :noidea: and swap cams without needing any tools to remove the E-clip other "less-refined" bows use on the axle.

Sorry for the early morning humor.....I better go get some coffee!

No appology necessary. I need another cup myself. That's about as good an answer as I could come up with.

Maybe there is a reason to make it easy to change your cams? :noidea:

As I was told, the reason for the quick change cams is because the clips are trouble some.

I agree..... as we call them "no see em clips" Because they go flying when you pull them off. I have a bunch of extra because I loose them all the time. It is also hard to get them off with out scratching the limb unless you have a special tool.

No E clips, faster and easier. I haven't talked to a dealer yet who didn't like the idea. Anyone ragging Mathews for that is reaching. It's a feature, not a selling point.
