Larry Daniel Boone 12-10-2009, 10:58 PM Are use the most for there accuracy. DB bfisher 12-11-2009, 10:45 AM Both work just fine, but I like to use glue-in target points simply because they are more precisely made and won't come loose while shooting. That being said if you are going to shoot IBO or ASA there may be a reuqiement for screw-ins for bowhunter classes. Same can be said for local shoots that adhere to these rules. For most local shooting it won't matter. If you do your homework you can use inserts and field points that match fairly close to the weight of most Nibbs. I shoot an 80gr glue-in target point in my GT Ultralites. By the same token I have some with inserts (about 15gr) and 65gr Saunders combo points that weigh 80 grains also. I can use either with little to no change in impact point. AZHuron 12-13-2009, 02:39 PM Definitely inserts with screw-ins for 3-d, but don't use regular field points. Try slick-tips for 3-d. They have a ring of teflon around the base to make it easier to pull your arrow out of the target. They're also slightly larger than filed points so they won't penetrate as deep. It sure makes a big difference by the end of the day after pulling all of those arrows out. TomT 12-14-2009, 07:27 PM Definitely inserts with screw-ins for 3-d, but don't use regular field points. Man, you sad a mouthfull there. I use Scorpion Venom or Pam on the arrows, and that let's them go THROUGH the damn Coyote and Mountain Lion, and then you gotta pull'em that much further. PITA, especially on a cold day with new targets... |
