Cardboard works as well. Bob asa1485 12-17-2009, 07:42 PM I have a cople made like this in the yard. Whenever the cardboard starts getting worn out I take the top off and switch the cardboard around. Good as new. Also have a few bag targets stuffed with old clothes. Just don't use pants. They are hard to pull the arrow out of them. upnorth 12-19-2009, 09:16 AM i use to get the feed bags from feed stores that had holes in them that they couldnt use they usually have to pay to have them taken away . they work great for stuffing . full-bore 12-20-2009, 10:32 AM collect a bunch of used carpet.Cut it into 24" strips layer it on top of each other then use a racket strap to sinch it down.WORKS LIKE A CHARM! Will last a long time too. cath8r 12-20-2009, 02:02 PM This is the greatest, cheapest outdoor target of all time. Practically free to make. 1. Go to a landscaping supply or place they sell mulch or decorative rocks and ask for a 'yard bag'. Don't know if this is the exact name but it works around here. They are large bags made of that nylon feedsack material and sewn to be 'square'. The ones I find are 3'x3'x3'. I get them for $3.00 each. 2. Go to stores or wharehouses and collect the plastic shrink wrap that go around pallets that they are going to throw away or recycle. 3. Stuff yardbag with shrink wrap and really pack it in. 4. Get a pallet or two to set on the ground to keep the bag high and dry. You can lay it on the ground but it will likely rot out. 5. Shoot away. I usually get a year per side with alot of shooting. When it goes bad you just have to buy another bag, the pallet wrap is still good. Jhorne 12-20-2009, 08:38 PM Cardboard box packed full of old clothing. Shoot all 4 sides then replace box. Simple and it works. gamoboy 12-21-2009, 12:38 AM check on craigslist for the carpet. thats what im doing |
