I've been on the sidelines for a number of years, but I'm ready to get back in the chase.
Started bowhunting in 1974 with a Bear Kodiak recurve, but the last bow I bought was an XI Flatliner in 1993.
It should probably be in a museum somewhere, weighs a ton, has 50% let-off and I want to take advantage of some of the technology that's come out in the last couple of decades.
Of course I'm told Matthews/Hoyt/Bowtech would be good choices.
But, quite honestly, finances don't allow laying down $800+ bones for a new bow.
The new Martins are selling for the price of a used bow manufactured by the companies listed above and they were considered to be good equipment in the old days.
Just looking for some input and direction from the folks here as to which direction to go and whether I should buy new or used.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
I'm looking forward to spending some quality time here with ya'll.

Martin bow's use to be first class but it seems as there QC has slide down hill the last couple of years, broken limbs, poor finish, busted risers, cams thatare bent or cut strings ect... All bow companies have there problems here and there but it's how they take care of those problems that count. Seems like a lot of Martin bow owners are complaining lately about trying to get something repair on a not to old Martin bow and it falls on deaf ears.

Take a look at Darton, Bear, Pearson, PSE, Mission, Quest and a few other that are putting out nice bows at starter prices.

Thanks for the input folks.
Seems some of the big names of yesteryear are either out of business, bought out or suffering from quality control issues.
Gonna shoot as many different brands as I can to see who's bow feels best to me and keep looking for some used gear.
