I shot my first ever 5 spot today . Realized a couple things. First, 63 pounds is too much for that many arrows. First half shot all Xs except for 2 fives. Then the weight started whooping my tail. X count went out the window
Seond thing, it is best to have a dot or t least a light on your pin. Was having a hard time focusing on the target for having to hunt my pin. I did end up with a 300 39X though. Will definately have to do things a little different next time.
Photo was taken right after last arrow. You can see how I almost lost out on the 300. Man I was tired
I know X count needs to go up but waht is a good range to shoot for?

depends on if you count 'X's as 14's

My best 5 spot is a 300, 52x......i average 47-49x per game.....
Havent tried them with the new set up, i was shooting my monster xlr8 70# 3-d bow for spots too.
The new set up will be put to the test tomorrow....will post pics.
And i'd say a great average is high 50's

Good shoot'n
Have only shot 5 spot for several months now, so I'm in no way an aficionado, but I'd definitely say that's a strong start.:peace:
Sadly, indoor season is over here, just as I was starting to get wound up.
Shot the following round this evening, used a cool Android app to track it. Called Xcount.

I gotta agree with Gator, to hold 300 on your first attempt is a good feat in itself.
Once you get up in the 50's on your x count, you'll be figuring it out....after you find out the best you can do is a 300, 58....you'll just stop trying !! (talking from personal experience here) lol
Good shooting, and a good looking rig too I might add

Thanks guys. I always try to do my best when I shoot. I have shot in many pressure situations before so , nerves most of the time is not a big issue. But , I gotta tell you. I do not keep track of my scores ever. But someone said, 1 more shot and you got a 300. I just could not get that last shot to go off  I let down the first time (could not get it to hold in the white). Then I just told myself, do as if I was blank baling. Draw, anchor, finger on release, and just aim , nothing else. Then, after a few seconds of that, everything settled back down. I let down, took some deep breaths and drew. Pin floated in the white like it was supposed to and I eased off the shot. Who knows, maybe lucky on that one and I may not see another 300 for a long time. But, it won't be from a lack of trying :peace:
