yo ranch pictures continued.

The picture with the truck is the bar or lodge. This is where everyone would meet after the days hunt. The other picture is actually two rooms. It is a old converted post office. The old post office boxes where still on the wall.

Here's the one I wanted to shoot but he was not a management deer.

This is the only legal one that came close to getting the shaft. However, he is a Six. One brow busted off the other side had no brow tine.

While I had a camera man with me, I didn't take any photos so I missed out on photographing some good stuff. I just could not bring myself to shoot a 115" buck.

If I had to guess, in 4 days of hunting, I probably saw 300+ deer.

call me dumb but WHY didn't you shoot any of these again? Around here I would have dropped every single one of those without a second thought

You have to remember that we were on a management hunt. That means only 8 pointers or less. The bigger ones were 9 & 10 pointers.

These are texas deer so the racks appear larger than they are. The average body size of these bucks is 130#

Yes, it's fenced. Howevever, 40,000 acres is pretty big. After we turned off the highway, it was like 4.5 miles to the lodge.
