NY Hunters - Time to Fight AND BE HEARD
Just received a note from the NYSCC... See Below. We need everyone to take a few minutes of your time (NY Residents) and support A733, which is the Youth Big Game Hunting bill (firearms) which will lower hunting age from 16 to 14.

WE NEED ALL SPORTSMEN, WOMEN AND YOUTH TO E-MAIL ASSEMBLYMAN ROBERT SWEENEY, CHAIRMAN OF THE NYS ASSEMBLY ENVIRONMENTALCONSERVATION COMMITTEE, AND THE REST OF THE COMMITTEE WITH YOUR SUPPORT FOR BILL A733.

This is the Youth Mentoring Bill that would allow youth 14 years and older to hunt big game when accompanied by a licensed hunter over 21. Only one gun would be allowed for the two hunters.

Assemblyman Sweeney and the EnCon Committee needs to hear from EVERYONE who supports this legislation. I received a call from Assemblywoman DelMonte's office saying that this bill was not being acted on in the Assembly EnCon Committee, and THEY NEED TO HEAR FROM SPORTSMEN! LET US BE HEARD LOUD AND CLEAR THAT WE WANT OUR YOUTH TO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO HUNT BIG GAME IN NEW YORK STATE! Assemblywoman DelMonte's office stressed that it is especially important to contact the downstate members of the Assembly EnCon Committee; we need their help to move this bill through the Committee.

E-MAIL Assemblyman Sweeney at Sweeney@assembly.state.ny.us (Sweeney@assembly.state.ny.us). Send the email to the other members of the Assembly EnCon Committee (listed below), and contact your local legislator with the same information. Follow up with a letter or postcard; and any youth contacting their legislators should include his or her age.

The anti's are moving to block our sports. Let's make this push happen so we can get younger kids involved, and help buttress our future from insane nut job attacks.

Thanks much!

I don't know if I would allow Bowman to handle A gun.:peace:
Let me know what to right and I will do it. I am more interested in changing the age for archery from 14 to 12.

I think the whole thing is ridiculous!!!! Here in Vermont as long as you can pass the hunter safety course you can hunt big game. I don't ever hear of a ten year old shooting another person. All my friends and relatives got there licenses when there where any where from 8 to 14. Most youngsters are safer with guns then me or you. Waiting till kids are 14 or 16 years old gives them to long of time to find something else to do.

NEW YORK.....the only state in the union that does not allow people less than 16 to hunt big game w/a gun......

and you can thank the huge numbers from westchester and NYC that vote it down everytime it comes up to vote......

there stupid moronic mentality that any youth w/gun in there hands is a thug....

kids raised above the westchester line have a different way of life....

get your heads out of your butts and see the truth....

In VA,
A youth can gun or bow hunt at any age on a junior big game licence!
When he or she turns 16 they have to take the hunter safety course to obtain a regular hunting licence.
While under age 16 if they hunt big game they have to be with an adult 21 years old & if they kill a deer they have to use your tag!
IN my hunt club we just had the youngest hunter ever in the club to kill a buck on his own (with his father at his side) 1 shot from a 20 gauge at 20 yds this 8year old is my buddy!
IM gonna try to pull up his pic because we all were proud of him!:biggrin1:

The way the huntclub works is: they meet on drive days, they have 35 members & 8 dog drivers
180 treestands that are pallets 12feet high They drive an area and chase out every thing.
The club dosnt allow bow hunting, spring gobbler, muzzelloader,to guest.
The only time i can bring guest is between the 2nd week of the general firearm season and until the second to the last day.
Which is around Nov 22 thru january 4 or the first friday in january
All small game seasons is free if you want to rabbit or squarrl, ducks, geese. No small game hunting in big game season!
The drive consist of 1 in the morning break for lunch 1 in the evening until around 3pm then you or guest can still hunt till dark, the county i hunt in can use any weapon while still hunting but club restrict to shootgun no slugs while on drives. any questions later ask, im telling yall if you never been on an organized hunt its wild! (& the members bowman, you would fit in guy, the asst hunt club president is about 27 a highschool football coach and a mathews guru/ archery nut like me he gets all his deer in bow season (october) & drives dogs in regular season for fun!:biggrin1:
