HoooooRaaahhhhhhh!

It may take you two minutes to read this, but if you do not take the time to read this you are one of the people who know nothing about our troops who are risking their lives for your rights!
_________________________

You stay up for 16 hours.

He stays up for days on end.
_________________________

You take a warm shower to help you wake up.

He goes days or weeks without running water.
__________________________

You complain of a "headache", and call in sick.

He gets shot at as others are hit, and keeps moving forward.
__________________________

You put on your anti war/don't support the troops shirt, and go meet up with your friends.

He still fights for your right to wear that shirt.
__________________________

You make sure you're cell phone is in your pocket.

He clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags.
__________________________

You talk trash about your "buddies" that aren't with you.

He knows he may not see some of his buddies again.
__________________________

You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls.

He patrols the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.
_________________________

You complain about how hot it is.

He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow.
__________________________

You go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got your order wrong.

He doesn't get to eat today.
__________________________

Your maid makes your bed and washes your clothes.

He wears the same things for weeks, but makes sure his weapons are clean.
__________________________

You go to the mall and get your hair redone.

He doesn't have time to brush his teeth today.!
____ ______________________

You're angry because your class ran 5 minutes over.

He's told he will be held over an extra 2 months.
__________________________

You call your girlfriend and set a date for tonight.

He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.
__________________________

You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do everyday.

He holds his letter close and smells his love's perfume.
__________________________

You roll your eyes as a baby cries.

He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they'll ever meet
__________________________

You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything.

He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he is fighting.
__________________________

You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of men like him.

He hears the gunfire, bombs and screams of the wounded.
__________________________

You see only what the media wants you to see.

He sees the broken bodies lying around him.
__________________________

You are asked to go to the store by your parents. You don't.

He does exactly what he is told.
__________________________

You stay at home and watch TV.

He takes whatever time he is given to call, write home, sleep, and eat.
__________________________

You crawl into your soft bed, with down pillows, and get comfortable.

He tries to sleep but gets woken by mortars and helicopters all night long.
____________________________

You sit there and judge him, saying the world is probably a worse place because of men like him. If only there were more men like him

Too true. The sad thing is, there are a lot of people out there like that. Especially Jehovah's Witnesses. I can say that too, because my sperm donor is one. The man I consider my dad is the former UDT/Seal that raised me like his own. I have more respect for that man than anyone else on this planet. He's the reason I joined the service. I never fought, but I was prepared to. I am very proud to have served my country. :usa:

"FREEDOM HAS A FLAVOR THE PROTECTED WILL NEVER KNOW" Old Quote, but still true. But we should also add the Spouses,Children and Parents to this. The wives (and husbands) that stand by their man (or woman) are also HERO's in their own right.

A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is braver five minutes longer.
--Ralph Waldo Emerson

So what does that make the US Service men and women? If hero's are braver for 5 minutes longer then I guess there must be something above "hero" for our folks over there doing what they do for years at a time? :usa:

the sad thing is that it is very true. when the towers fell i didn't see millions enlisting. i saw millions crying instead of standing tall, getting ready to fight for this country. i have two more years and it is off to SEAL school for me. i am willing to fight for this country, i am willing to die for this country so everyone can still be free walk out of their homes and be safer, hunt, fish, sleep comfortably, wake up to another day without a dictatorship. i love this country. i don't want to take it for granted, i am going to fight just like my ancestors did. die with courage, die with honor.

God of power and mercy,
maker and love of peace,
to know you is to live,
and to serve you is to reign.
Through the intercession of St. Michael, the archangel,
be our protection in battle against all evil.
Help us to overcome war and violence
and to establish your law of love and justice.
Grant this through Christ our Lord.

I think you mean SERVE with COURAGE and SERVE with HONOR. If you have no goal other then to die may I recommend signing up for the UN Peace keepers? Their whole purpose is bullet shield.

If you go into the US Navy with the goal of Dieing you are probably joining the wrong team... may I suggest the Marines? Their the first ones in and have their own "special forces" (Recon?)

The SEALs won't like you walking into their door boasting about your goal of dying for your country. You also aren't going to "walk into SEAL school". I believe you must volunteer after qualifying and then receive recommendations from your commanders.

sorry about the misunderstanding. i ment if i get tagged i am dying for this country. dying proud. dying for our freedom. trust me my goal is to stay alive. i have already started with getting ready. a friend of mine that is on seal team 3 is helping me get prepared. i have already taken my asvab and have aced it. you don't have to be navy prior to seals. you must do well on the asvab and apply and be able to pass the physical test(which won't be a problem). you can either go as a reserve or full time. i've been looking into it for years. wanted to do it since i was 6.

study until no end. about the 1st reply to this thread. sometimes i have a habit of writing something where it sounds right in my head but really isn't. iit is mainly caused from fatigue because i workout about 12hrs a day total. morning evening and night. so this causes me to make no sense at all sometimes.

you workout 12 hours a day? are you serious?

You can't "ace" the asvab, they give a number rating, not a letter rating, so you can score 95+ percentile, 98+ percentile... etc.

I slacked off on mine and only got a 93 :noidea:
