View Full Version : What kind of sights are you all using?

Just want to see what all of you are using, and tell me a bit about the durability, brightness of pins, sighting in ease...all the good stuff. I just got an Atomic Geat Apex 4-pin, and the quality is an issue on it I guess...the light breaks off, it rattles when I shoot, and the level bubble bursts when shot...

What alternatives should I be looking into?

Sterner Duttera film dipped me a Cobra Site system to match the bow pattern of the Rhino 34 that I got from them.

Its all I need.

Best,

I have been using the Top Gun F35 and F22 sights on my bows, they have the 3rd axis adjustment and are micro adjustable. Very dependable sight and very easy to adjust.

Cobra Sidewinder with all the pins removed but 1, Its 4 years old and still the must durable sight I've found. Works great and you should never need more then 2 pins. 3 at the most if you have a very slow bow

Those G5's look very nice. Any experience with them? they are a bit expensive, but that smart pin things looks like a great deal...all you have to do is get the sight as a whole in the correct position for any of the sights, and all the other pins HAVE to be centered because the one is....

Are the fiberoptix very bright with these sights? It sounds like they are the most durable out there though...

Sorry to say no on the G5 but it looks like a high quilty sight. I'm very happy with my BG sight at this time. From 20 yards to 70 yards target shooting.:peace:

Vital Bow Gear Triangle.

I used the TR Matrix previously but in low light it was hard to see the longer distance pins.

Extremely bright and I live the slanted pins.
The separated pins are great but unlike Horitonal pins, they do not block the body or head of the animal (depending on which way they are facing).

Now colored Green/Yellow/Green.
My eyes could not pick up the middle red pin.

Viper Microtune. I own two of them. One for hunting and one for 3-d. I have 6 pins in each one. 0.10 for 3-d and 0.19 for hunting. Very durable and doesn't viberate or make noise.

One pin Cobra sight, not sure what year or style but I can ajust it on the fly with a turn of a knob. I generally sight my bow in from an elevated point anyway, so no need to adjust it later.

Tru Glo 5 pin .019 (I think) no tools needed to adjust. Nice and bright, not sure about durability only had it about a month. Looks well built. Had a little noise and I found that the plastic cover that protects the fiber optic wraps was rattling when I shot, the screws were tight so I put just a touch of clear silicone on one edge wa la no more rattle.

3 bows wearing a Spothogg Hoggit, a Viper H1000, and a Vital Bow Gear 3 pin Trapper. Not really comparing apples to apples here, but the spothogg is easily the best of the 3. The micro adjust pins and gang, good level, and vertical wire add up to easy adjustments and aiming. I have Fitz fibers in all of them. Short in the SH, long in the Viper and VBG. VBG is by far the brightest, but it has the longest fibers. I had a HHA 5519 that was silly bright too. The Viper is a real nice sight for the money, it get best bang for the buck award.

Do you really think the Bisket affects the arrows flight?

Do you really think the Bisket affects the arrows flight?

nope not really. just have to tune it like everything else too.
and your arrow spine has to be right also.
there are so many other things that effect arrow flight just as bad..
punching gripping the bow bow out of specs.. long list there.

Cobra sidewinder xls on both my bows, used for hunting, spots and 3d. 7 pins on the hunter and 5 on the other. Lovem. Great in low light. They seem to be well made, the optics could be a bit more protected, supports under the optics like the new ones, but i rate it a 9+ on a scale of 10. This winter i think im going to make some carbin fiber supports for the fibers and see what happens, I have 4 other hunting buddies that use the sidewinders also.
