to bust ol' freak nasty.he is a 6.5 year old buck that i have been chasing for 4 years.last year he was a main frame 10 with a sticker,19"-20" spread and beautiful varnished looking antlers.i haven't seen him in the day light since he was 2.5.he is on the top of my hit list but he has a running bubby that isn't too far from him.while i am asking for the impossible it would be nice to kill him in the morning hunt so i could bask in the glory all day long but i might not be able to get my swollen head into the truck.

    Default Have fun

Enjoy the outdoors. Spend time with my older brother and friends in the woods. Introduce a few to there first harvest as always.

Hopefully nail a good eight pointer or better. Take a few pictures for others to see and enjoy.

Video of bucks fighting. Spike held his own with this buck. Not the greatest.
    Always fun to watch.

Sounds like everybody is pretty much on the same page. Time in the woods and be thankful to put one in the freezer. I'd say our goals are right where they should be. Best of luck to everyone. This is better than christmas time!

My goal is to get a bow kill this season. Downed a small 10 pointer and a doe in the same day during black powder last year.

I have set up a stand along a nice scrape line where I have seen a massive 8 pointer. Hoping he runs across me.

My personal goal is pretty much the same every season, a 150+ class 4 1/2+ year old buck and I'll also do my part by tagging a few Does.

That being said, I'm a LOT more excited about helping my kids tag deer this season than any deer I could possibly shoot. My daughter is into her 4th season but both my boys (ages 8 & 9) will be deer hunting for the very first time this Fall. I would like nothing more than to see them walk away from this season with some great memories and a passion for the sport we all love.

Good luck to all of you folks this Fall.

I usually pick out a buck or two, in the preseason scouting, and then go after them. If that doesn't work out I'll check out what is left after the rifle season and if there is a good buck, go after him. My first priority is to help my son get a deer, then I go after mine. If no luck toward the latter part of the late season I'll shoot a doe for meat. I just like being out there with the challenge of getting close and the solitude of the experience but getting venison in the freezer is also a high priority.

Hey Kenny, how are you ?

Hey, go to Wallyworld and get the stretch band exerciser for $6. It's 2 exercisers you can velcro together to use as a draw to get you back used to pulling a bow.

Good luck this season and I hope you and yours are doing well.

I've never been a trophy hunter. Never have and never will have a head or a fish mounted. Have nothing against it but it's just not my thing. Pictures are good enough for me and are easier to drag from bar to bar to brag with.

Start of the season I hunt for a midsize doe for the meat. But if it's a midsize racker or better, he's mine. I don't have a lot of freezer space and I live by myself so I really only need one deer.
Then I'll spend the rest of my hunting time looking for that "special" buck. If I get it or not, so be it. I just enjoy the hunting part of it. I just enjoy being out there. Once I've gotten my skillet needs, the hunt becomes more important than the kill and I have left many a deer over the years walk so someone else may have the chance. Just knowing that I could have gotten them was enough. Might just start taking my camera instead. But this year due to medical reasons I'll be doing neither.
