Exclamation first deer with a bow

well i decided that i was ready for bow hunting last wendsday so i made plans to stay at my father in laws house sunday night. we got there around 2 pm and i went to the woods at about 4 pm.i sat around facing north with the wind at my back. thinking that the deer would come from the north. i sat there for about an hour and a half. i turned my head behind me because i heard a limb crack. to my amazement there were at least 4 does behind me. i waited till all the heads were down or behind a tree, (i was sitting on the ground behind a tree) turned to were i could be comfortable drew back and waited for around 3 minutes. my heart was beating so hard im suprised they didnt hear it. one presented its self with a shot. i realesed and THUD i knew i hit it. i waited for a couple of minutes because one of the does was still in the area just outside of shooting range. she finally ran off and i got up to go get my father in law and my wife to help me find it. first we looked for a blood trail and the arrow. but nothing was to be found! i started loosing hope so i went back and visualized the flight of the arrow. about 80 yards away from the deer i had shot at was the arrow. i picked it up and smelled it, it was a hit. i went to find my wife and she, my father inlaw, and his dog had found it. about 200 yards away. the hit wasnt great but i got it in the ribs and out of the stomach. (remeber i had to shoot behind me while sitting on the ground) i was so happy and everyone was proud of me.Attachment 12202

Not a problem, it will taste just better then that old nasty shoe leather Doe.

Hard to see buttons when the heart is racing a million miles an hour and shaking like a leaf.

Great deer none the less. Congrats....

    Default Nice Job!

Even though I don't know you personally, I'm proud of you! You worked hard at getting your shooting straight. And asked questions and got yourself squared away. I hunted for 15 years before I shot my first deer!

    Nice work! Nice sling!!!

In Michigan a button buck is tagged as a doe. Do you have to tag them as bucks in TX?

anything under 3 inches i think is considered a doe in oklahoma but u can take up to 4 deer in archery season. i believe it is 8 total. i havent ever seen a buck in the wild in oklahoma other than at night driving
