Pot Pie... Cheap and REALLY good....
Got this recipe from a Hooters gal a few weeks ago and I tried it this past weekend... This is some really good stuff...
2 cans cream of potato soup, do not mix any water or milk with it...
1 can of mixed veggies (Vegall, or private label equivalent), drained
2 cups of chopped and browned meat of your choice. I used venison, but you could use anything you want including leftover beef, turkey, chicken, etc.... Even Bunnies...
1/2 cup milk
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (I used sharp cheddar but the recipe don't specify).
1 teaspoon black pepper (or to taste ). I put in a dash or two of Tabasco.
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 box of 2 pre made pie crusts, 9"
1/2 to 1 cup sauteed chopped onions, or one jar of pearl onions, drained.
Brown meat. I browned meat with the onions in some butter and then drained it.
Butter a 9" pie plate and form one crust into the plate.
Mix all ingredients in a bowl and spoon into pie crust/plate.
Place second pie crust on top and crimp the edges of the 2 crusts together.
Cut a few slits in the top of the crust.
Bake at 375 for 40 minutes.
Take out of oven and let cool for 10 minutes.
Serve with some dinner rolls, cornbread muffins, garlic toast or something of that nature.
Enjoy.... Should serve 6 people unless your family and/or guests are gluttons...
Man, this stuff is amazingly good, easy and quick to make and very inexpensive... I paid about $6 for the crusts, potato soups, veg all and cheese. I had the rest...
