That one is unbelievable, there is another where the deer gets hit at 100 +, flies up and out of the picture and then back down in front of the cruiser and gets struck a second time. not nearly as gruesome

Seems I need to represent the L.E.O. community here ... It's what I "do" when I'm not on Active Duty Recall Orders from the Reserves, and 3 days a month sefving as an Auxiliary on the Base Police Dept where I'm at now.

He was as we say "running code"...
Note the blue flashing lights and the speed ( you can count the number of dashed yellow lines in one second to get an idea how fast he was flying ;-)

The MVS system comes on automatically when you exceed a certain speed threshold (Dept. configurable), and anytime your lights are on... Actually it is always recording and buffering the previous "x"-seconds (again Dept configurable) and as soon as you hit the lights, whelp/hi-lo or trip your speed threshold it captures whatever "x"-seconds the buffer is holding and the live video and audio.

When you are going through EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operation Course) you learn that the best thing you can do is NOT jam on the brakes or attempt to swerve if impact with an animal is immanent, as you are 500% more likely to loose control that if you just hit it and maintain your speed and direction... Also we have some pretty beefy crash bars to absorb the brunt of the impact.

Still is an impressive kill though.

Dead center for sure. Must be a substantial bumper on the car to do that without buckling the hood.
