Default Texas ASA 2009....Its Go Time !!!!!

Its go time in Texas !!!!!

Our first state qualifier is this weekend Feb. 21 & 22 at Brownwood Bowhunters Archery Club at Brownwood, Texas. This is going to be a great shoot. Brownwood has neat mix of open rolling terrain as well as thick Hill Country brush. Shots can be tricky and deceiving. The wind could really be a factor this weekend.

We have several new exciting features this year.

We have really nice plaque awards for the winners in young adult and youth classes. We also have newly designed medallions for the Eagles and and all competitors (other than 1st place) in the Young Adult, Youth and Eagles classes. We are also awarding Gist buckles for all Adult, Young Adult, and Youth classes plus Top Gun for the State Champions and SOY Champions. There will also be an extra $1.00 per shooter added to all the adult class shooter funds so our cash paybacks will be bigger. The Texas ASA clubs that work so hard to put on these shoots also get one extra $1.00 to help with their expenses. This is where the additional entry fee money is going. Thank You Tracy for your work on the kids awards.

We are also going to have a prayer service on Sunday morning at all qualifiers and at State. Thanks Joe Crawford !!!!

The Known 45 Class (K45) is a new class for 2009. Its all known distance. This is just another way that ASA offers all shooters a place to find their comfort zone and to further enjoy their tournament experience.

Tracy and I have purchased a travel trailer that will be the official Texas ASA office at all shoots. This will give us an area to tabulate scores, store all our ASA "stuff" and allow us to stay on site at all times.

We also want to welcome Nocona Bowhunters as the newest addition to the Texas ASA Federation. We are looking forward to Nocona's qualifier on July 4th weekend.

We are working on some more exciting ideas for the Southwest Shootout that we will be sharing in annoucements soon.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend. Come on out and shoot with us.

We Are the Next Best Thing to a Pro/Am.

    Mike & Tracy
