Default Oklahoma Turkey hunting is tough right now

I called four difffernt hens in yesturday with not a gobble in the woods on a dead silent day. Birds are diffiantly not talking midday in my part of the state.

They are not really responding to calls around here. I've heard gobbling but nothing's come within shootin range yet.

Ya it's slow going around my area .Ive seen a ton of hens too,the other day i was in our hay meadow and saw a boss tom strutting with about 5-6 hens but they were 100yds from me and just wouldnt come in.
This wind isnt helping either.I do like hunting out of a hub blind and may never use that little popup again..........

Our birds up here are already spooky as all get up as well. A call of any kind seems to send them running the other way pretty quick. We are going to have to change tatics and move in closer to the roost for the remander of the week.

Me and the wife went a couple weekends ago and had no luck. Heard some gobbles, but they were all henned up and happy to stay put. Can't sneak up on them either...not in the Hill Country! We did catch lots of fish though and they were tasty. Saw lots of piggies and even shot one, but he was 40 yds away and decided to move at the wrong time. Arrow hit him right in the EAR...he flopped around for a minute, then got up and stumbled off. Never found him either
