What about a fita round. The big yellow face. Is it the same as the field round?
    Thanks DB,

Is a whole different game. They did have a Fita shoot in Okla City last year at Trosper.

Jame, here is a link to the Bylaws of the NFAA, the Field shooting rules and scoring is a part of the document and subject to change every Feb, at the meeting in Vegas.. As for explaining them.. there are folks who have been shooting field for years that still can't explain the rules, including some of the folks who helped write them.. Dean will be your best source for that... http://www.nfaaarchery.com/depot/doc...%20By-Laws.pdf

NAA/FITA rules are pretty simple, but long winded... http://www.usarchery.org/content/index/2009

About half my practice right now is a 28 target hunter round.
    4 arrows at a target.

really shows the flaws and allows you to do the work.

Thats the bad thing about field archery. Cant blame my misses on the judging yardage Or that I aimed at the wrong spot on the animal. Great sport. Jame you need to try it.

Also the State 900 rounds coming up in Sept. Come set a new record score.

Jame, if you happen to be in the OKC area on a Tuesday, you should come by Trosper and shoot the target league with us. We shoot half a 900 round. It's quick to shoot and pretty light hearted out there. You can get a quick intro to it all and be ready to go for the state target shoot next month.

Last week when it was over we all took shots at an old core from a 3D target at around 105-110 yards.. I'm still missing some arrows from that...

Dean I believe you still have the state record.

Maybe that will give Jame something to shoot for next year

Actually Jame the 900 round is in Sept. You got time to get ready to go drop Dean record. Im going to see if I can find the score to beat.

    Hope for a calm day
    DB

Hey Jame here the scores to beat. I see 875 going down Sept 12. Now beating that 889 is going to be tough. Actually beating the old timers score of 886 is going to be tough on that hill top trosper shoots off. Always windy.

    900 Round
    Men Pro FS
    2005 - Kevin Hutchinson 875

    Men Freestyle
    2007 - Mike Atwell 889-39X

    Men Senior Freestyle
    2001 - Dean Pridgen 886

    Men Master Senior Freestyle
    2005 - Dean Pridgen 855

That 900 round will humble your butt... I 'thought' I was a good shot.

I like doing a field course walkthrough with hunter targets up.

Either the white face or the black face.

I havent done any competitions, but use the round as tracking my baseline.

Known yardage, shooting at a bullseye... piece of cake... :/

    4 arrows at each target. score 5, 4, 3
    28 targets with a 560 max

My wife beat me on our first walkthrough. She shot a 506 with her hunting bow and I shot a 505 with my Freestyle rig.

A walkthrough like this REALLY shows what you need to work on. I do them at least once a week now and it is a perfect way to track progress or evaluate a change in equipment. Did you improve, or not?

It's made a huge difference in my shot process and overall scores in 3d.
