Here's our first try at sugar beets. Doing very well. Wishing we had put more in.

Here's a small plot we just put in Friday, Mix of a few different blends. We will see if the deer eat it or walk past it to get to the oats. You can see the oat field in the background up on the hill. It's about 40 acres total. the deer seem to love oats more than any thing else once the beans are off. They were planted about 2 weeks ago and are already 2 inchs tall.

    Thumbs up Buck Forage Blend

I planted this blend about two ago. I check it last weekend, it was also up about three inches tall and a real nice green color. I think its going to be a real magnet this year.

Put a graze pen in yesterday. Come to find out the rape is whats coming up not the clover. It's hard to see in the pics but in 2 days it greened up a bunch.

First year for beets. They used to get plenty of them in the winter when we could feed and bait. Now we cant bait or feed so we figured we do the legal thing and plant them. Some of the older deer have a taste for them so we will see. Last year we put purple top turnips in this spot and they rotted away. The deer never even nibbled on them. We never hunted over bait but once winter came we feed beets all winter long in several small areas. So were hopeing they remeber the taste and eat these..
